| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 18, 2009 Bottled 50cl. Aroma: Malt, quince, fennel, liquorice allsorts, peach, a huge amount of mango, lychee, hop resin, sweat with some very slight spring onion (!) sneaking in which I associate with the usage of nugget hops- I found the same component in the Mikkeller Single Hop Warrior IPA. Appearance: Hazy dark copper with a nicely lasting medium sized light beige head. Some lacework. Flavor and palate: Rather nice. Almost too full bodied for the style. Good american hop profile which brings some bitterness. Decent, rather present malty back. Balanced. Some spring onion, raisin, sweat and tobacco sneaking in. The fennel characteristic is less present in the taste. Leafy. A tad salty. Dry biscuity finish which is reminiscent of licorice, crackers, hop resin and spring onion. Overall impression: Good. Too malty and full bodied in my opinion though. Almost like an American strong ale. Not a good example of the style but rather pleasant. nerdrocker101 (102), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 10, 2009 Bottle. Pours a cloudy, golden body with a nice sized. A bouquet of floral hops on the nose. More hops on the tongue mixed with light notes of sweet malts. Overall, this a refreshing beer and an incredibly good American pale ale. BMan1113VR (2894), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 8, 2009 Bottle. Pours with a largish, off-white head over a hazed honey golden body. Aroma of honey, tea and prickly PNW hops. A touch of raisins and red apple skins in the background. Taste is a mix bag of light herbal and citrus hops, with a bit of tea and caramel thrown in. Might be a older bottle. While the hops aren’t papery, they are noticeably not there flavor wise. Medium to light bitterness. Extremely refreshing. Medium to full viscosity for an APA. Good! | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 5, 2009 Bottle. Pours a nice amber with a thin white head. Aroma is very hoppy with bready malts. Notes of grapefruit, floral hops, and other citrus fruits come through as well. On the palate, this beer is really balanced. A bit of yeast comes out in the flavor, but the floral hops really stand out. It finishes with a bitter bite comparable to an IPA. I really enjoyed this one. alagnak (359), Littleton, Colorado, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 31, 2009 Deep red color in the glass. Aroma is sublime - resiny hops, charred fruit and a nice biscuit thing. Taste is really clean and floral, with a trememndously well-balanced co-mingling of bitter grapefruit, some sweet fruit (cherry/peach) and a nice yeasty malt flavor cutting through with a nearly perfect balance of resiny/piney hops to finish. A textbook APA and, if not for the fairly high ticket price, would be a staple in my house. bierkoning (6071), La Tropica, Netherlands
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 31, 2009 Bottle @ home. Reddish brown color. Grapefruit, red berries, oily hops and candied cherries in the aroma. Oily earthy hops in the malty sweetish flavor, with hints of candied cherry. Oily earthy hopbitter finish. Tasty brew. bacchanalia (68), milton, Cambridgeshire, England
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 24, 2009 Pours out a lovely brown/gold with a nice creamy head. Nose is pretty full on with juicy barley, oranges & lemons. Then down to the tasting & what a treat, the body is full & lush, & I almost didn’t mention the conditioning as you get a bit blaze with Mikkeller, but it is perfect. There is a lovely rounded yeasty, caramel biscuit flavour & slight oranges with a cracking fresh, bitterness underpinning the whole beer that really starts showing off in the long hoppy finish. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 22, 2009 Ohhh! A new Mikkeller for me to try! Looks the ticket, pours nice and clear which was sort of a surprise, small-creamy-off-white head. The aroma is great, classic, nothing overly unusual but very good: Lovely resinous hops, some cut grass, good amount of peppery/spiciness all balanced by some lovely malt notes, bready and biscuity. The flavour is superb, clean and and to the point. Lots of floral notes, touch of soapiness but a well measured amount, more grassiness - very refreshing, lots of weight and flavour for 6% the body is light to medium and just right for the style. Palate is fresh and slightly creamy, just the right amount of carbonation. Great thing about the finish is that it isn’t overly dry, seems to wet the palate just right, some refreshing dryness and then it seems to coax the palate to salivate. Ends with a good dry-sherbert burst of floral almost perfumed hops. Great beer and a great quaffer.
