bu11zeye (3573), Frisco, Texas, USA May 3, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a lightly hazy amber body with a tall fluffy off-white head with good retention. Aroma of herb, floral, citrus, and caramel. Flavor of hops (herbal, floral, pine) and caramel malt with a moderately bitter finish. Notable increase in bitterness as it reached room temperature.
dmac (789), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Jul 13, 2008 16.9 oz bottle purchased at Spirits. Pours a hazy amber with a large bubbly off white head. Aroma off citrus hops, caremel, grain and a very slight touch of smoke. Great body that has just the right touch of carbonation and a bitter finish. Flavor of bread, citrus rind, slight caramel that is sweet but finishes bitter and dry. undsioux7 (458), Cologne, Minnesota, USA Jul 11, 2008 Pours dark amber with a big off white head. Aroma of grapefruit and citris hops with a bit of malt coming through. Taste is pretty much the same with some hop juice in the pallete and a good hop bite in the end. I think I could grow to really like this one, but for some reason, its just not sitting with me right.
This is more toward dales pale ale then alpha king. Well made though. Robert_GBG (108), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 10, 2008 Dried fruits, grape, fresh delighful smell, apricot, not that sweet, good bitterness lamas (572), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA Jul 9, 2008 500mL bottle. Once again, props to the design department for those labels. Pours a murky rust color with a huge tan head that leaves lots of lace. Prototypical APA aroma profile with plenty of floral hops in there. Medium to thin-bodied. Taste is juicy grapefruits, oranges and lemons. Hints of caramel maltiness and a light biscuitiness upfront, but it’s all about the hops - lots of grapefruits and pine with a bitter finish that lingers. Most likely the best APA I’ve had. paytoplay (24), , California, USA Jul 9, 2008 Drank out of the 500ml bottle so not sure on the appearance. Great nose, citrus, clean and refreshing. Could of been colder, and enjoyed on a hotter day and it would of been great. Some bitter hops on the finish give it some bite, though tried next to an IIPA it was a small flavored beer. Great nose and high drinkability. Not sure on the price but I believe the Mikkeller brews are on the high end. Will work thru more of the brews before I settle in and buy more than singles.
