Mikkeller Barrel Aged Smoke a Ciggy

Hazy very red amber body, with a small quite fast disappering head; Very pleasant and well composed nose very pleasant soft campfire smokey, biting alcohol sharpness and slight harsh fresh oak barrel aroma, very good; Very interesting body, lots of soft honeyed sweetness and fill, right amount of big bubbled velvety soft carbonation, very lightly soft and a quite big full sharp bitterness; This bitterness lasts long into the finish, a very power full finish lots of alcohol sharpness but in a very fitting way, lots of barrel harshness (to much, maybe the barrels was to fresh). Very very special and quite drinkable beer. I have stored it for long because I thought it would taste like shit, but it really didnt.

Bottled. Pours out in a oapque dark brown appearance with a low tan head. A big whiff of smoke in the aroma with notes of wood, salty licorice, black pepper, caramel and alcohol. Full-bodied with strong warm notes of smoke and salmiak. Sugary undertones of burnt sugar and sweet licorice. Full-bodied with a modarate carbonatyion. Smoke, gun-powder, brown sugar and Ancho -pepper in the long aftertaste. Funny beer in small amounts.

Bottle at Chris O’s tasting, 26th Sept 2008. Cloudy russet/brown with some beige head. Peaty Islay whisky oak aroma at first and then the malt comes through. Lots of great rauchbier flavours and a great palate. I wish it came in a bigger bottle for slow sharing!

Deep amber with a medium beige head. Aroma had peated malt, toasted malt, caramel and wood. Flavour was sweet and vinious, toasted malt, caramel, peated malt and ripe fruits. Finished smoked and sweet. Best smoked I have had. Excellent!

Bottle@Home, thanks Menno! Strong iodine and peat aroma, like a campfire. Hazy, orange/brown, beige head, fair lace. Very sweet, bitter, loads of peat and iodine, concentrated tangerine. Full, sticky and warming. Nice, not exceptional.

Dark unclaer brown, tiny head. Strong malty and smoky aroma of spices, dark wood, tobac, caramel. Flavour is sweet w long dry bitter end. Well balanced. Next i will have a pint of this!

Bottle from Olbutikken que (BBE 2012). Murky brown color, small off-white head. Aroma of smoke, wet wood and some kind of alcohol. Sweet maltyness, tobacco smokeyness (ashes to ashes!), some weird combination of wet wood, hops and yeast. Also some sweetish flavors, propably from honey (tricky!). Not alcoholic at all - 11.5% beer! The first beer which tastes like ash and is drinkable. This is not a stand-out, but allright. Cigar-lovers maybe like this even more. Unique.

Bottle at home. Pours a almost clear dark brown with a small off-white head. Smells of leather. Quite sweet with aromas of smoked malts, caramel, wood and lots of leather. Some residual sugars. High carbonation. Full body. Smoked, dry finish with with hints of oak and alcohol. Good but has a bit too much of everything but water.
