Chokolate and coffee dryness and malt sweetness. Hoppy notes highlandlad (1258), Sydney, Australia Dec 11, 2007 The problem with Mikkeller is they’ve only done four versions of Beer Geek Breakfast. Slackarses. If the beers are all as good as this and the original, then four is not enough. This sorry world needs more. The Draft Versions is a Rolls Royce of a stout, smooth and elegant, with plenty of horsepower under the bonnet. Jet black with a huge head. Porridgey grains, roasted coffee beans and loganberries in the aroma. Gloriously creamy body. Lovely rounded flavours - lactic body, souring milk, rich coffee bitterness and a peppery finish. Terrific stuff. I can’t draw a line between this and the original. (Bottle courtesy of Papsoe at Ecze’s Sydney RB 07 gathering. Many thanks to both.) radiomgb (1920), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Sep 9, 2007 Black in colour, tan coloured head, quickly dissipating, no lacing. The aroma is of coffee, dark chocolate, some liquorice, burnt roasted malts, oats. The flavour is very roasty, lots of coffee, moderate bitterness, nutty with the ever present dark chocolate. Bitter mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes long, bitter with lots of roasted coffee. Quite good, excellent balance. There is lots of coffee in this one. Mikkeller is quite the brewery.

boboski (1095), Alabama, USA Sep 7, 2007 Thin, brown, mostly diminishing head. Oily, opaque, near black/very dark brown body. The nose is filled with aggressive but wonderful roasted grain, not overdone. Looming and exquisite coffee. Ample bittersweet chocolate and mellow cherry/raspberry background notes. Mild toasted nuttiness, moderate alcohol, light lactic acid. The aroma is definitely that of Beer Geek Breakfast, a muddled and less exciting version of the bottled version of the same beer. The flavor is surrounded by milk chocolate tendencies due to generous lactic notes. Sweetness is medium to medium-high, bitterness moderate and acidity mild. A faint astringency grows wioth each sip. The finish is bittersweet, coffee and chocolate lingering, smooth. Medium-full bodied, creamy, adequately carbonated. Tasty, unremarkable though very drinkable. TheCheeseMan (538), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Sep 6, 2007 Courtesy boboski. Deep, deep burnt brown color, really reminded me of a great espresso. Aroma is well integrated, roasted and toasted grains and malt, dark roasted coffee, a slight spiciness, maybe a hint of raisins. Flavor is a continuation of the aroma, with the roasted component shining strong. I really dig this brewer and this beer. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Sep 6, 2007 Courtesy boboski. Pours black with a quickly disappearing light brown head. Huge roast and chocolate aromas fill the air. Dark, toasty malts, some coffee, and maybe a touc of peanut butter were detectable. I really liked the nose. The taste is pretty big coffee, although the flavor seems somewhat subdued a bit. A little bit sweet, the chocolate is definitely apparent, with a mild sweet bitterness towards the finish. A little bit creamy mouthfeel, which borders on sticky. i think I like the bottled beer geek a little better, but this is close. SoLan (1367), Orlando, Florida, USA Sep 6, 2007 Courtesy boboski. Murky dark brown and a small, creamy brown cap. Aroma of roasty burnt malt, bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee, vanilla, dry wood. Very similar flavor, more roast presence. Medium body, smooth. Very drinkable. Solid. willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Jun 4, 2007 20060922 Bottle shared at Dickinsonbeer’s O-Fest. Once again, I’m going to assume that Joe brought this one, although I’m less confident with this one. I this tasting was nothing else, it was rich with Danish beers, and that’s alright. Black, thick, unctuous, gorgeous. Coffee, peat, and some mold smoke all meld famously in this one. Not nearly as viscous as it appears. Pretty hoppy to finish plus heaps (heaping spoonfuls?) of coffee flavor and bitterness. Lingering resinous bite. The crazy Danes nailed it with this one.
