Bottle @ Mondial de la Biere 2009
Appearance: black with side of brown, dark tanned brownish head
Nose: strong roasty character, bold coffee character, bit acidic, lighter leafy hops and black malt behind
Flavor/Palate : Bold, very roasty with heavy dark malts. Roasty on top with ash on bottom. Slightly harsh up close. Evil brew if there is such thing.

Thick, black oil in my glass with a hell of a brown head. The aroma is great; nuts, coffee, chocolate. The flavor is complex, but really, really balanced. I get the hops; lots of citrus undertones, but the malt is what is really big here. Tons of smooth coffee and chocolate. I’ve become less and less a fan of stouts as I’ve tried beers. The burnt flavors that are present in poorly done stouts really turn me off. This was such a pleasant surprise.

Tasting courtesy: Butters 6th cellar reduction. Dark brown with light colored sediment floating around. Nice reddish brown head. Coffee and dark chocolate covered tart fruit. Especially on the finish. Nice.

Pours a muddy brown with a nice lingering, tan head. Aroma of fresh roasted coffee, cocoa, hops, alcohol. Taste is a strong roasted coffee and chocolate. Creamy up front leads way to a lovely bitter roasted coffee finish. Finish really sticks with you. Very nice stout, would definitely start my day out with this anytime!

Pours a tan head with legs and a dark brown body. Oatmeal coffee stout here. Smells like coffee and alcohol. Tastes like an exemplary oatmeal coffee stout. Little thin. Good malt and coffee flavors. Buttery sweet. Dry finish.

Bottle shared at the 6th Cellar Reduction. Terrific near black pour with small fine bubble, like caviar, and small legs. Nose and flavors of rich coffee, bitter chocolate, oats. Only medium body, I was actually expecting more, but it worked well for this brew. Way to expensive though. But I sure would want to drink this for breakfast.

About a 1 inch thick head of superfine bubbles with some larger pockets of air rising ot the top. Reduces slowly. Rich aroma with lots of burnt toast, roasted malts, bitter coffee and some evergreen hops. Color is essentially black. Super creamy and smooth in the mouth. Loads of oatmeal body, rich coffee, bitter chocolate and some charcoal. Extreamly flavorful. Not as thick as you might think from looking at the pour. Light alcohol tinge late swallow. Finishes very roasty with a lingering bit of smoke. A very good tasting stout. Coffee isin’t my thing but this one is not too coffee centric which is nice.

Pours an oily black colour with a rocky tan head that is reluctant to fade like a mass of chocolate mouse slowly dimpling. The nose is roasted coffee, some spruce-like hops, a ton of oatmeal, and some chewy caramel. The flavour is pleasantly bitter, perfectly roasty and not overly sweet. Strong coffee flavours, NW hops, bitter cocoa, licorice and booze dominate the palate and linger, coating tooth and gum, sucking all moisture off the tongue and corners of the mouth. The palate is like silk- full-bodied, creamy, long lasting and medium carbonated. Very nice, but the quality of the flavour did not meet the hype in my opinion.
