Very think, complex taste with heavy coffee flavors and chocolate flavors dominate with oatmeal giving it a nice round, full taste. Very substantial and hearty. terrybail (338), London, Ontario, Canada

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 3, 2009 500ml bottle from R+R. Pours opaque dark brown, with a substantional light brown head that lingers on top through the pint. Strong roast coffee aroma, dark cocoa and espresso flavours. Thick, rich body with mild bittering finish. Very pleasant. basewars (145), Albany, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 3, 2009 Pours jet black and viscous with foamy brown head. Aroma is chocolate and oatmeal with some hoppy citrus notes. The flavor is mostly bitter chocolate and coffee. It sits softly on the palate. Stouts are rarely so smooth and drinkable and it is even more impressive with this level of alcohol. A very well crafted beer that excels at balance.

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 2, 2009 Bottle. Pours an inky black body with a big, dark brown, slowly dissipating head that remains very lacy throughout. Great looking beer. Aroma is very smooth and mild. Lots of mild coffee roasts, bittersweet chocolate, and citrus hops. The more this warms up, the more citrusy it becomes. Flavor is exactly the same as the aroma. An abundance of mild black coffee beans throughout as well as a nice balancing chocolate and citrus hop backing. Finishes mild with a good lingering touch of all three main flavors. Palate is medium bodied, very smooth, and becomes more and more chewy as this warms up. Leaves a very fragile alcoholic burn on the tongue as it slightly warms on the way down. Overall, a fine example of the style. For a pretty straightforward oatmeal stout, this really has an abundance of taste. Exceptional balance between the coffee, chocolate, and citrus. Very well done. thornecb (1782), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 1, 2009 Pours black into a snifter. Mocha medium sized head with excellent retention slowly recedes leaving spot lacing. Chocolate syrup, espresso and oatmeal aromas. Sharp espresso and chocolate upfront with a lasting espresso finish. Sours slightly in the finish at it warms. EnSiFeRuM (501), Quebec, Canada

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 18, 2009 bottle: pours very black with a huge tan head that recedes to a good line of head. aroam has lots of oats and a lot of sweet malt, and chocolate. then th ecoffe kicks in and adds a good roast, but seems light. i loe the sweet oatmeal aroam though. flavour is alot of coffe much more than is in the noce, followed by plenty of dark chocolate and touches of the oat. but th eoat makes the beer so smooth and tasty. the finish is just like a shot of espresso very nice beer.
