Ooh, this ladys got the thickness. Sexy mouthfeel. Good coffee flavor, bitter finish that mellows out, then its time for another sip. golubj (1300), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 29, 2008 Bottle. Black pour with thick brown head. Aroma is sweet milky oats and lots of roast. Flavor is the same, lots of roast in the finish, and black coffee finish as well. It does not have much going on beyond the coffee and roast. Rciesla (3880), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 26, 2008 Bottle. Pours a black body with a tan head. Drank next to Founders Breakfast stout. Dark coffee with a light chocolate flavor with a nice oatmeal character. A great coffee beer, honestly awesome, but...not quite as good as founders. fidelis83 (729), Clinton, Iowa, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 26, 2008 Pours deep and dark almost black brown with thin ruby highlights. The head is a huge and long lasting creamy, capuccino colored froth. It really explodes as you pour (I ended up with a pretty decent puddle on the kitchen counter) and leaves a substantial amount of tan lacing. Aroma is coffee, roast, a hint of char, toffee, milk chocolate, nutty nougat and some herbal, bitter hops. Flavor starts off with a great coffee taste, better than most coffees I have had. The oats are definitely present, possibly stronger than I have tasted in any other stout along with a nice toasted malt and sweet fresh barley note. There are plenty of milk chocolate, nut and vanilla flavors- almost as if I am eating a box chocolates but without the sickeningly sweet part. The finish is chocolate, herbal hops, plenty of dark roast coffee and a little burnt sugar. Body is medium, with a dry start and finish but sweet, creamy middle, a touch of alcohol towards the end and a cream covered vlevet feel throughout. This is a great stout, I have wanted to try this for a long while and BAM! it just shows up in my local beer store one day....friggin sweet. That is a huge bonus because I live in the middle of cornholes nowhere. I love you Eagle River. Beer2000 (1858), Kristiansand, Norway
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Dec 24, 2008 500 ml bottle. Totally black body with a fine, creamy brown head. Aroma is roasted coffee, chocolate and malt. Flavor is rather sweet and bitter coffee, malt and bitterhops. Again a big, heavy and balanced beer from Mikkeler. I am impressed how this beer is almost extreme in flavors, but ends up just fine and balanced after finishing a bottle. swoopjones (1925), Buffalo, New York, USA

This beer really opened up as it warmed. at 7.5abv I much prefer this to the amped up stouts. Much more drinkable. Fully creamy body, chocolatey. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 21, 2008 Had this both fresh and aged for a year, not a big difference, plenty delicious no matter what the age. Best part is the palate, smooth with hints of coffee, sweet chocolates, bitterness, all dancing around the tongue. Top notch.
