Commercial Description:
Editor's note: Recent batch of this has been brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø.
An oatmeal stout with 25% oat-based ingredients and a nice touch of gourmet coffee. A beer that goes extremely well with breakfast.

A pitch black beer with a huge dark brown head. The aroma is complex - quite sweet with dominating notes of dark chocolate and coffee, but also notes that reminds me of milk chocolate and oatmeal. The flavor is sweet, but not too much, with a complex palate of roasted malt, oatmeal, dark chocolate, as well as some coffee. The mouthfeel is fantastically smooth, and the aftertaste is sweet with a slight hint of the acidity like in a cup of coffee, combined with a slight bite from the alcohol - and it lingers for a long time. The aftertaste reminds me a great deal of drinking a great coffee.

Bottled. Very black, brown head. Concentrated coffee aroma. Dryish, soft and rounded. The mouthfeel and relatice dryness makes it very drinkable despites it’s near full body. Very roasty, dark chocolate is evident and there are notes of tobacco. Most dryish very roasty beers gets a metallic edge, but this has non of that. Instead it finishes with lots of espresso-like lare bitterness. Very well made. Justifies it’s high rating.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours completely black and opaque with a thick, creamy and very goodloking light brown head. Burned aroma with hints of coffee. Very soft and smooth mouthfeel. The body is - surprisingly - not very full, actually the beer is scaringly easy to drink. Very distinct accents of burned malts and a somewhat burned edge. Lightly burned bitterness. I believe the brewers could easily turn up the coffee presence. 170306

Black as pitch. Big brown head. Massive roast & dark malt aroma with light imperial stout notes of dark fruit and alcohol. Massive body. Neither chewy nor oily nor creamy nor tart...I think the word ’solid’ best describes the body. It’s built like a brick shithouse. The flavours start with an interplay between sweet & dark chocolate malts and insistent espresso roast. There is a solid hoppy base for this intense, if simple, palate. The finish is big with lingering roast, pungent alcohol and burnt fruitcake. As it warms, it gets rather oaty (though not as fatty as most big oatmeal beers) and gains in milk chocolate character, which helps temper the intensity of the bitterness. Well-made, rather interesting brew, especially considering the cliched concept.

Bottled. Black coloured with a beige head. Roasted aroma with notes of coffee, hops, pine needles and grass. Roasted flavour of pine needles, coffee and hops. Long roasted finish. Finally a hoppy danish stout.
