Another century celebrated with a Mikkeller beer, this time rating number 10,800. A pitch black beer with a thick dark brown head. The aroma is sweet and powerful with lovely notes of chocolate of the dark bitter desert kind as well as notes of coffee, flaked oat, roasted malt, coffee, and some citrusy notes of hops. The flavor is very sweet - just a bit over the top for me, because it ends up with a slight dextrose note, but other than that the flavor is amazing with strong notes of dark bitter chocolate, flaked oats, roasted barley, hard roasted expresso coffee beans, alcohol, soy sauce, and a slight citrusy hop note. The alcohol is just detectable in the flavor, but is more noticable as a tickle of the tongue and palate. I had mine luke warm, next time I’ll try it colder to see if the dextrose note can be subdue by the cold - without the beer losing too much character.

Bottle 25 cl. Pours completely opaque black with a firm, creamy, light brown head. Fat aroma of burned malt and distinct coffee accents. Solid body, some vanilla, plenty of burned malt and dark molasses. Distinct malt bitterness. 271208

Now that Tom for the first time EVER has made an Imp Stout enter top 50 I might as well add my rating :)

25 cL bottle. Pours pitch black with a small chocolate brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate and light coffee. Flavour is sweet and tarish at first. Goes more smooth towards the finish. Light smoked and coffeeish too, minor tobacco accent. Finish holds a much more sweet accent to the overwhelming dry notes. Something towards marmelade. Ends with a long and far lasting hoppy fruity finish and sweetness. Stunning!

Bottled at RBESG. Very black, brown head. Powerful coffee aroma. Very malt with viscous mouthfeel. Loads of chocolate, tar and salty licorice as well as whisky. Very bitter finish. Despite it’s size it remains unintrusive and soft. One of the better Imperial Stouts I can think of.

Bottle 25cl @ home. Clear dark black color with a average to large, creamy - frothy, excellent lacing, fully lasting, light brown head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, strong coffee, dusty, moderate alcohol. Flavor is heavy sweet and heavy to harsh bitter with a long long long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is syrupy - oily, carbonation is soft. (220708)

Bottle, 10.0%. Vinous and very hoppy aroma, grassy and citric. Black colour, seems muddy. Very small dark brown head. Good roasted flavour at first, a little smoke, distinct bitterness. It has a good mouthfeel, probably because of the nice sweetness. Coffee aftertaste.

Bottled. Black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, sweet alcohol, mild coffee and some vanilla. Flavour is really coffeeish, chocolaty and has some mild notes of alcohol as well as some slight notes of sour/acidicness. A rather wellbalanced strong beer.
