Bottled. Pitch black coloured. Dense brown head. Nice looking. Coffee, roast, a light herbal touch, some spices and chocolate in the aroma. Very balanced. Flavour is immense and complex. Again coffee and roast and here a lot of chocolate. Herbal and flowery notes as well. Fantastic flavour in my book. The balance is perfect. Full bodied. LIght dry. Ends on a roasty and bitter note, which is perfectly countered by a chocolate sweetness. Light touch of alchol on the lips just enhances the joy. I’m in heaven, and eventhough I’m usually quite biased when it comes to Mikkeller brews, this is a gem. Should have bought more.

A heaven beer! This is close to perfect and I’m happy that I have 3 more in my cellar. Black, black beer with dark brown head with the aromanotes of sweet roasted coffee-chocs. Quite powerful indeed. The hops are very wellbalanced and smooth in the similar flavor with a mouthfell that is perfect. Where is the alcohol? 10 % Cannot feel it, but it’s ok alcoholic. Apples?, licorice and more notes. Looking forward to sample more of this maqnifique beer.

I´m a dedicated fan of beer geek breakfast.... and here is an upgrated version...what a fantastic idea. The nose is hoppy fruitey and dominated of coffee. It has a huge fluffy brown head and a thick and creamy body that is sso black. American hops souch as simco and amirillo gives it a fruity and very very dry hoppyness. Dry roasted coffee, caramels and chocolate gives together with the hoppyness a perfectly rounded and complex taste. Im sure this one also could be aged with great success....and maybe be my first 5. Proud to be the first to rate this amazing beer.

It’s pitch black with a small, creamy, dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, coffee, licorice, light dark fruits and hints of ash/chalk. The mouthfeel ins oily and nice. The flavour has a roasted bitterness, notes of coffee, licorice, light dark fruits and a hint of ash/chalk. It’s intense, full-bodied and very nice and the finish is extremely long. I like it a lot, but the “normal” version is the love of my black heart...

Bottle at the RBESG08 Grand Tasting. Beer of the day for me. I kept tasting it and tasting it. Black thin tan head. Smells of Beer Geek. Pretty awesome. Coffee is stunning. Just thick and roasted and just so lovely. I had shit loads of it and missed on a ton of ratings just to sit and enjoy it. So dry on finish. I love it and thanks so much to Yespr for bringing it.

A Mes rate: Bottle at home with Sim thanks to my favourite Danes, Jan and Charlotte.
This... is a very good beer. Could not be any blacker and has an incredible creamy, milky brown head that is just a joy to behold. The aroma is incredible. This is how Beer Geek used to be before it was brewed ’offsite’. Massive peppery hops hit first, rushing into the sinuses and clearing the way for the deeper ingredients of joy that lay below. A dark blanket of chewy malt bringing forth a slew of brutal alcohol and rich chocolate sauce, freshly revealed from the centre of a crispy chocolate pudding. Buttered bready malt carry everything perfectly well. Flavour... GOD this is good. This brings back thoughts of my first Beer Geek. A total assault of blackness and bitterness that seems to be shot from a pistol. Huge in every sense. The coffee, chocolate and spice give it an incredible bitterness but they also bring forth the darkness. The top end hit is easily enveloped by thick inky malt that is full as hell and pleasingly chalky. The finish is an insane hit of alcohol, pepper and resinous hops that strip your tongue of all feeling then it is instantly caressed back to life by the amazing lingering cappucino. Amazing length and development. My god. It’s a long time since I have been stopped in my tracks like this. Thanks so much to Jan and Charlotte. Mikkel we really, REALLY need more of this.

Bottle, thx to Papsoe. It can’t look much more inviting than this one in the glass. It pours a jet black body and on top sits a small but firm, brown head. The aroma is complex as expected, with salty licorice, burnt malts, molasses, mocha coffee and hops. A really big one! The flavor is even better and bitter. Not much more, but a little, with the same salty licorice, burnt malts, molasses and mocha, but the hops are more evident releasing a wonderful bitterness to go with the coffee-like bitterness from the malts. Full-bodied and both dry and sweet. To say it’s an easy drinkable beer would be a lie, but it’s damn tasteful and just lovely. An hour of joy. (081128)

Black with large brown head. Aromaen has loads of coffee, hops, chocolate and hard roasted malt. Flavor is sweet with notes of bitter coffee, burned malt, caramel, hops and dark chocolate. Ends bitter. Huge complexity and soft mouthfeel.
