Thanks to Papsoe for the bottle This is a black pour with a dark brown head; it looks great. The aroma is very much of scotch whisky. The flavor is also predominantly of scotch, with the typically impy stout flavors of roastiness, coffee etc subdued. The bad news is that I’m not a big fan of scotch. I was hoping that the scotch and imperial stout flavors and aromas would complement each other. In this beer, whisky is the main force.

Tasted 2009-12-26. Pours pitch black with a grey/brown head. Aroma is smokey, coffee, roasted malt. Taste is EXPLOSIVE!!! Massive stout. Alcohol (but not too much), smoke (but not too much), liquorice, whiskey, coffee(!!!), dark fruits... every sip brings another powerfull impression. I wouldn’t dream of serving this to a rookie beer geek, but if one can drink it, one likes. ;-)

Bottled@Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Quite much pitch black colour with mediumsized yellowish brown head. This one has rather much left of the original beer with the Islay notes not coming in all too dominating, although they are strong. This one has aged very nicely in the barrells

It’s pitch black with a dark brown, creamy head. The aroma has strong notes of peat but also earth, ashes, smoke, chalk, whisky and chocolate. The mouthfeel is oily. The flavor has a light sweetness and notes of peat, smoke, wood, ashes, chalk, light coffee and chocolate and the finish is dry and chalky and ashy. IMO it’s a pity to put the nice Beer Geek Brunch Weasel in an Islay barrel.

500 ml bottle. Black and does not let much light through. Medium-sized beige head that clings to the glass. Wooden aromas with notes of oak, alcohol and vanilla. Roasted malts and a texture that is rich and very smooth. Velvety. Peaty smoke. Strong Islay character come through towards the end. Characterful, but rich and balanced. A very nice beer. Especially if you do like Islay whiskys. Sharp flavours linger towards the end. Marvelous beer.

Tasted at the first, great, Borefts Beer Festival 2009 @ De Molen. Black colored brew. Very heavy whiskey aroma. Flavor is peated malts, whiskey, coffee. Too heave on the whiskey.

Enjoyed with breakfast@RBNAG2009, Vatlandsvåg. Dark brown to black in color, with a yellow-brown cream head. Intense aroma of peat, wood, leather and whisky. Full malty, sweet and sour, with a bold bitterness. Predominant wooden whisky flavor. Notes of tar, salty licorice and charcoal. Warming alcohol throughout. Unbalanced and agressive, yet a great experience.

Bottle. Rich aroma of tar, smoke and burned coffee. Very dark brown colour with brown head. Interesting flavour with a mixture of liquorice, coffee, tar and lots of smoke and wood. Soft mouthfeel, but ends up dry and bitter from the hops. A wood- and whiskeylike aftertaste.

Bottled at Örebro Öl- och Whiskeyfestival. Completely black, rich brown head. Sweet and full bodied with lots of licorice and peat. Bold, but not assaulting. Hugely malty, lots of coffee, lot of whixky. Salty peaty bitterness. Ramps up things perhaps one step too far, but manages to stay on track.
