Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway.
This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civetcats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries.Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.
Ingredients : Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee.

Bottle. Pour is exceptionally dark with a dark tan head. Nose is rich coffee oatmeal, leading into oats, chocolate, raisin, vanilla and mocha flavors. I’m not sure I pick up the Civet (having only had it once otherwise), but the flavors of the beer are well rounded and complex. It does, however, seem a bit thin, particularly when paired against the great imperial stouts.

Bouteille 500ml.

I really don’t see the big beal about this beer. It was rather pedestrian. Aroma and flavor were a little thin. Not bad though.

Bottle from BA’s Mikeandi.. Pours pitch black with a mocha head.. Aroma was roasted malts, alcohol, chocolate and a little bit of coffee.. Flavor was chocolate, coffee and a caramel sweetness.. Oily mouthfeel and good carbonation. Very good stout.

(500ml bottle thanks to mar) Pours black with a dark tan head. Nose is smoky, sour cherries in the background. Piney hops and toasted caramel. Taste is burnt toast, coffee and coats the glass very well. This one is quite complex all the way around I’m sure there are lots of aspects I have missed.

Bottle that someone brought to the CCB BA BS release. Poured dark brown/black with thin tan head. Nose is coffee, cocoa powder, earthy hops and smoke. Flavor is sweet roasted malt, rich burnt coffee, toasted grain, dark chocolate, and floral hops. Pretty nice. Maybe a little over-rated.

Bottle: Pours black with a medium brown head that is mostly lasting with nice lacing. Has a strong roasty coffee malty aroma with dark chocolate. Complex flavor is of a strong quality coffee with hints of dark chocolate and cherries. Has a velvety/creamy texture that finishes sweet with a mild bitterness. A well balanced brew that hides the high alcohol content very well. If I could have one of these everyday before noon life would be good. Delicious!

[2277-20090613] 500mL bottle. Rich coffee bark roast aroma. Black body with a medium-lasting foamy brown head. More rich bitter roast coffee in the flavour with a bit of a sweet finish. Full rough body. Handles the alcohol well, quite a solid beer.
