Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway.
This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civetcats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries.Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.
Ingredients : Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee.

2009-06-13. Black body with a huge foamy khaki head and lace. Aroma is pleasantly alcoholic, rich dark malts, modest dark fruit throughout. (8+) Flavour is surprisingly well balanced. Bitterness up front from hops, roast and coffee is very well supported by a sweet middle, primarily generic (but pleasant) dark malts, rich dark fruits that grow as it warms. Coffee is surprisingly restrained throughout, to its benefit in my opinion, pleasant bitterness in the finish lingers with a mild dark fruit character. (8+) Palate is a richly smooth medium to full body. (4+) Relatively straightforward, simple, but rich and pleasant. Nice. Bottle, beerbistro, Toronto

pours very think, very black. meduim dark brown head disappears quickly. aroma has strong malt and coffee notes that compliment nicely the underlying burnt/smoke smell, def a lil funk to go along from the shitcoffee. the flavor is an immense black coffee malt explosion with hints of smoke, bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, all the good shit(pun intended). the palate is very clean and actually refreshing with only the right amount of black coffee dryness in the finish. damn good beer.

Pours out black with massive head. Smells like coco and coffee. Taste is very roasty, creamy, and bitter. Thick and rich. Flavors of coffee, chocolate, roated malt. Good balance, very drinkable. Some warming from alcohol, but well hidden. Great Imperial stout.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway. Batch #418, ABV is 10.9%. Pitch black colour, huge chocolate brown head. Lovely aroma of dark roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, hints of dark fruits. Intense flavour of coffee (can’t say if the "weasel" coffee was worth the price, though), also a massive malty sweetness and a solid roasty and hoppy bitterness, lasting through the long aftertaste. Not for sissies.

Bottle, batch 418. Pours black with a massive dark brown head, loads of chunky, sticky lacing. Aroma has hints of dark fruits, red berries without the tang, yeast, vanilla, loads of coffee, roasted notes, chocolate, salt liquourice, and generous amounts of citrus and floral hops, and as it warms up, some ash. Flavour is massive. Mostly the same notes as the aroma. Long, dry bitter coffee and hop finish. Gets saltier and more bitter as it warms. Mouthfeel is thick, round and smooth. Very good.

Bottle Pours a nice black with a good creamy brown head. The head lasts well. Lacing is great. Aroma is great with chocolate, roast, coffee, and a base of oatmeal. Has a light carbonation. A wonderful mouthfeel. The flavor is excellent. A very slight burn from the alcohol but not anywhere near what you might think. The flavors dance on your tongue. Has a full body and a thick texture. The finish is purely awesome with a great lingering aftertaste. Take your time with this and enjoy every last sip. This may truely be beer excellence.
