This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civetcats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries.Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.
Ingredients : Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee.

16.9 oz bottle. Dark brown with a pocked tan head. Thick clingy lace. Nose is coffee, earth and bittersweet chocolate with a touch of molasses. Smooth, thick and chewy with light carb. Taste is dark chocolate, dark roast and caramel. Bitter coffee bean finish with alcohol.

16oz bottle. Pours thick black. Oily legs. Foamy dark tan head. Huge in your face coffee nose, hints of chocolate and toffee. Astonishing nose. Flavor is great but one dimensional in its awesomeness. Massive espresso roast up front with some light caramel and chocolate in the middle. Super roasty bitterness finishes. Lingering cappucino notes. Full bodied with soft carbonation but its lacking the heavy mouth of some of the bigger impys. A fantastic beer. Who knew coffee made from civet shit would make such an amazing coffee beer.

500 ml bottle. Pours a dark black with a creamy brown head that fades down with spotty lacing. Lots of roast, coffee, and a earthy burnt wood note. Creamy thick body coffee, molasses, burnt malts, chocolate, are strong and extremely tasty. Some hints of fruit and smoke, but the coffee and chocolate is the show. Long burnt coffee and dark chocolate finish. A nice balance of rich dark chocolates, coffee, and burnt earthy malts. Really well done.

Very, very dark brown pour with brown robust head. The nose is coffee, burnt sugar, chocolate, roasted barley, and other charred substances. The flavor is deep dark chocolate, burnt coffee and brown sugar, very roasted barley, nuts, and a touch of smoke. Very creamy texture tends to completely coat the palate, making picking out individual nuances difficult. Very strong alcohol notes as well as a really pronounced astringency that I subtracted points for...but pretty damn nice stuff!

Bottle - thanks Eric! A thick finger of creamy brown head atop a near black pour. Aroma is roast, mocha, chocoalte, and coffee. Nice, but not real intense. The flavor is a strong and rich espresso strain laced with chocolate, roast, and light bitters. This is silky, smooth, and rich. I’m not picking up and complexities, nor do I want to. Each sip is consistently rich and delicious. I would drink this all the time if I could afford it... This beer is the shit; time to sit back and enjoy.

Having sat on this for a while I felt like rating #1050 was as good a time as any to crack open a world class imperial stout. At $15.99 I was not going to just pop it open for the heck of it. I was not disappointed; in fact I almost wish I had another bottle. If it weren’t for the huge backlog of Top 200ish beers to sample I’d buy another tomorrow.

Aroma / Appearance - Thick and creamy the oily fluid soaks up every ounce of light. A deep khaki head graced the top like a sheet of thick icing on a dark cupcake. Roasted expresso, licorice, coffee, baker’s chocolate, smoke, and maple syrup kept alternating in a thick cloud that could have been admired for days.

Flavor / Palate - Warming the mouthfeel fills every crevice with a full combination of coffee, rich thick creamy chocolate, anise, and liquid fudge. The plum aftertaste marks the beer that leaves a definite impression on the senses. Also present is a dry smoke like the bottom of a cool fire. Overall this has no flaws and should rank right up there with other excellent imperial stouts such as Dark Lord and Darkness.

I finally got my hands on a few bottles of this very interesting beer and it just happens to be rating number 1,400. It poured a very glossy black with a small brown head with big bubbles that quickly faded leaving a greasy lacing on the glass. The nose is coffee, ripe fruit, and alcohol. It sort of takes your breath away. The mouthfeel is thick and oily, but very smooth. The flavor is rich malts with some hops and of course that trademark civet droppings for that coffee flavor. The finish is long and bitter and alcoholic. This is a remarkable beer if you like really rich imperial stouts.

Hugh dark black/brown pour with creamy brown head and lace. Aroma is coffee with a slight hint of ass:). Flavor of burnt coffee, abv, and roasted malt. Nice subtle bitter finish. Mouthfeel and carbonation are very good. A beer that says coffee and so much more.
