Smooth as hell, and extremely full bodied. The flavours begin very roasted and a bit sweet before they go into head on-bitterness, like chocolate and cocoa combined with a bit of lime and citrus.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 20, 2009 Bottle from Capones. Poured a perfect looking pitch black body with a mocha colored head. Aroma is lots of burnt roasty malts, soy and bbq sauce, very light coffee notes. The roastiness carries through to the flavor with tobacco, tar, coffee and dark chocolate syrup. Full creamy body that finishes syrupy. Really nice and probably my favorite from the Beer Wars preparty. Sammy (4012), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 19, 2009 Very expensive 500 ml at Beerbistro, recent batch left by the Denmark merchant fleet, and tested by our local large government at 9.4%. This is a top beer for coffee lovers. It pour black with great white head that becomes increasingly brown and much lace is left as it sinks in the glass. A sipper, with a sharp and overwhelming coffee presence. Taste is chocolately. A profound bitterness, with malt behind it. Just don’t gulp it too soon. Full mouthfeel, well roasted though not burnt. Perhaps a quarter cup of the actual strong coffee. Not the best coffee I have tasted, and not the best imperial stout of so many good ones I have enjoyed of late. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 19, 2009 Bottle. Rating #1000. Pours almost pitch black with a big beige/brown head. Nice lacing. Aroma is sweet pine hops with roasted notes. Slight coffee as well as liquorice notes appear as it warms. Well-balanced. Flavour is sweet and roasted with pine hops, which makes for a nice blend; the two can sometimes clash, but it works quite well here. A bitterness roams in the background. Slightly cloying in the long run, but nothing serious. Tart roasted finish with a smooth, mild bitterness. Lingering apple notes and alcohol. As it warms, it develops coffee notes, a slightly candy-like sweetness and a dry off-note. Smooth palate, although a tad too much carbonation for my taste. I had expected a more complex flavour, and more outspoken coffee notes, but it was still a very good and well-made beer. 19-04-09. yobdoog (1441), Woodridge NY, New York, USA

Slight sticky lacing on glass. Rich body and nice mouthfeel. Aroma is very pleasant and has tons of creamy coffee and molasses with rich dark cocoa undertones. Alcohol is well hidden. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 18, 2009 Bottled. Pitch black coloured. Huge brown dense head. Lasting. Aroma of coffee, roast, light cocoa, sweetness, liqourice (anise), herbs and some light smoke. flavour is tense and smooth. Again coffee and liqourice. Loads of molasses and a nice herbal touch. I get some espresso associations while sipping this. Medium to full bodied. Quite dry. Ends on a roasty, coffeedense bitterness, with a light bite of alcohol on the lips and palate. Very intense beer. BBB63 (4232), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 18, 2009 Bottle and served in my Stone IRS snifter: Opaque with a deep tan rocky and frothy head which produced good lacing. The aroma has notes of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, molasses, anise, herbal hop esters, and some black charred smoke. The taste has a wonderful balance of coffee and hop driven bitterness to counteract the heavy chocolate malt sweetness. Finishes with a hint of smoke, some licorice bite, molasses twang and has an overall dark fruit presence. The mouth feel is creamy and lush, medium to full-bodied with an metallic finish, some boozy warming noted but not distracting. All in all, very much a coffee forward brew that still provided depth of palate. Mikey Likey but then again I am coffee geek too. By far my favorite of all the stouts I have had so far from Mikkeller beating the regular Beer Geek and Black Hole. This should age nicely as well. (IMO, still a waste of this coffee to ever be put into a beer, any good earthy estate coffee would have done just fine). xmarcnolanx (793), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Apr 17, 2009 Shit. I wish I remembered this.
I must have been wasted, but I have very concise, well-written notes.
Aroma is dirty coffee, roasted malt, and red fruit.
Taste is sweet, lots of milkiness, estery, red fruit, alcohol, graininess, and coffee.
Mouthfeel is very full, hoppy, and slightly bitter. Sweetness lingers the most.
