Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway.
This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civetcats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries.Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.
Ingredients : Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee.

Bottle. Completely opaque brown-black with just a little light brown around the edges. Tight tan head. Big dark chocolate and coffee aroma - cherry, cranberry, lightly earthy. Really well balanced aroma, hops well balanced by smokiness, slightly vinous. Big flavor, more dark chocolate and coffee. Long bitter finish and less fruit complexity than the aroma. Warming alcohol. The coffee is probably the most well integrated part of the flavor, but the flavor is way heavy on the toasty/roasty notes, which throws it out of balance for me. Excellent beer though.

My Million Beer March Tasting. Sample from a bottle thanks to decaturstevo. Pitch black with a tan head. Aroma of coffee, big roast. Taste is more big roast body, big burnt roast coffee, chocolate. Excellent though I wonder how much the Kopi Luwak actually adds.

bottle. i’m all about the weasel poop. i have to ask, if the poop tastes this good, what does the weasel taste like? i must find out. pours black with a brown orange head. smells of roasted orange peels an assload of coffee(pun intended) a liquid version of a chocolate covered coffee bean. good coffee flavor with a perfect chocolate balance. i’m treating this like a good marbled ribeye, i can’t stop. nice and thick and treats me right. acidic finish that is all coffee. there is a horrible comment in my notes that i will leave out here, i am a sick sick man. 5 9 9 4 18

Bottle from Justin. Thanks! I’ve been eager to try this. Nice coffee taste and aroma. Very much like regular beer geek brunch, possibly a bit smoother, possibly because it is fresh. Leans dry, but not too dry. A little bit roasty. A little bit of smoke. I’m going to have to go against the 4.6 rating trend for this beer, because I’m not a big fan of roastiness, but it has been done pretty well in this week.

Bottle at Eulogy split with Joe, $19. Not a bad price for a bar, considering at stores it is 15. Mild black pour, a little bit of a head. Big, rich coffee aroma, chalky sweet with caramel and melted butter on toast. Alcohol, sweet black malts are evident up front, with chalk and sweet toast in the finish. A bit of fleeting bitterness. Not mind-blowing, very big and tough to drink. 5 years ago this beer would have been ground breaking and incredible, but now its just more of the same.

Bottle poured a translucent dark brown with a small lingering brown head. Aromas of coffee, roasted malt, bitter chocolate and light charcoal. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a lightly dry finish. Flavors of acidic coffee, bitter chocolate, roasted malt, dark fruit and light carmel with a smooth lightly dry lingering coffee finish.

In english: That’s damn good coffee.
