Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway.
This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civetcats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries.Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.
Ingredients : Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee.

Pouring an opaque, inky, pitch black, the body is crowned with a thick, lasting head of light brown foam. Showing some viscosity upon a swirl of the glass, a sheety wash slowly meanders back towards the surface, leaving sticky, jagged ribbons of lacing behind. It looks like a menacing, serious imperial stout, considerably heavier than the Beer Geek Breakfast. Rich and fully roasty, the nose shows massive coffee character, with freshly roasted dark beans clearly being the primary focus. Bitter dark cacao and carefully burnt caramel provide ample malt backbone to stand up to the huge coffee roast. The flavor is smooth and well blended, coffee and earthen hops pushing it to the brink of intense bitterness before the choco-caramel sweetness pulls it just back over the edge. There are hints of anise and perhaps some deeply buried dark fruit, but this one is all about bitter roast and chocolate. The mouthfeel is big, almost full in fact, finishing dry and roasty. This is a mighty fine beer. Not top 50 material, in my opinion, but a delicious coffee imperial nonetheless.

Tasted courtesy of Wee Heavy SD. Thanks. Black with a creamy brown head. This one is a lot like Black but not as thick or sweet. Great roasty, chocolate, espresso, and grain aroma and taste. Nice buttery mouth feel. A really outstanding beer.

Nose is soft -- easy coffee smell. A bit of chocolate, but definitely coffee. Viscous on the palate - thick like a Goose Island Bourbon County Stout. Chocolate, but smoothed out with an oatmeal undertow. Smoooooothe. I expected a stronger coffee taste, but it’s so mellow and plays a great supporting role.

Rating 2400, Bottles via trade. Shared at the BA Decadence 07 release, shared with many ratebeerians and the brewers at Alesmith. Pours black with a light brown head. Nose is full of big coffee punch, some roastyness and chocolate. Taste is quite roasty, with sweet chocolate, coffee, really rich, overall somewhat less than expected. This beers is cool but has nothing whatsover on Alesmith the Shit. nada. But its still good and i’m glad I had it.

Bottle. Thick creamy tan head on top of a pitch black body. Head is leaving brown lacing in the glass. Complex roasty aroma with notes of caramel, lots of coffee, chocolate and some liquorice. Thick creamy body. Wow! The flavour is so intense! Off course lots of coffe but also some sweet malt that really works good with the bitterness. I also love the chocolate and the tiny saltyness I catch. This is truly a masterpiece. Thank you so much Mikkel for making such great beers!

Crushed with CarytheDude. I can honestly say as an Imperial Stout guy that this beer, as good as it may be, is not among the type in it’s style. Although, I must admit I feel quite ecstatic drinking weasel feces with a smile on my face. Great appearance, decent flavor, wonderful palate, and an overall delight.

Crushed with Jakebra. I can’t believe I just drank something a weasel poopty peupty pantsed. Roasty nose is very nice, with minimal coffee and some sour notes. Expected more weasel poop on the nose. Flavor is incredibly pleasant, a nice silky mouthfeel, with great roasty coffee and dark chocolate. The finish is gorgeous. A huge rush of bittering hops and bitter coffee that lasts and lasts and lasts. A very good beer, but top 50 I doubt it. One very cool concept, and they pulled it off about as well as they could have.

[Bottle] shared at Skyview’s Lex/Larp Cellars Farewell. Pours black with a smallish tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and a touch of astringent roasted malts. Flavor is awesome coffee, chocolate, and roasted malts. Absolutely velvety mouthfeel and carbonation.
