| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 8, 2009 Bottle. Look: Black. Thick brown head. Smell: Hops. Milk chocolate. Coffee. Smokeiness. Taste: Oaky vanilla. Coffee. Dark chocolate. Vinous. Hop bitterness and roasted thing going on in the aftertaste. Overall: Superb stout! But i think Beer Geek Breakfast is better, this one has too many flavors sometimes... still lovely though. CheersMate1 (804), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 7, 2009 Huge chocolate head that sticks around for awhile. This beer is dark black, and it looks very nice. The head doesn’t fade away quickly, which is nice. Nice sweet pungent aroma with a great roast smell. This beer smells great, but tastes better. The beer has an awesome palate to it. This beer has an awesome silky and creamy texture.Ridiculous roast flavor with a nice coffee aftertaste. Sweet flavors touch your tongue and a nice bitterness follows the sweet, roast, and coffee flavors. Sweet malts are a great part of the beer, and make this a fantastic stout. I love that this stout has an awesome balance, and an even better palate than most imperial stouts I have tried. austone (1039), Turku; Pori, Finland
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 7, 2009 Bottle @ Beer Hunter’s, Pori. Intensily black, totally disappearing cocoa head. Huge espresso nose, little salty liquorice and tar, faint soy sauce and barnyard even. Syrupy espresso flavor, some tar, molasses, lingering roasty espresso finish. Feels kinda messy, same as the normal Beer Geek. Full bodied, lush easy palate. A very good coffee impy, but far from divine. Shared this with TBone, who suggested it wasn’t totally in shape, and it definitely wasn’t as smooth as I had hoped. after4ever (2803), Brier, Washington, USA

Long fry roasty finish. argo0 (6964), Washington DC, USA

I chose to taste an new and highly acclaimed brew from Mikkeller to launch myself into the 200s. Aroma is of coffee, subtle chocolate, earthy aromas resonate with the malt and coffee to create and extremely balanced aroma that makes me incredibly excited to quaff it. The exquisite quality of the coffee and the perfect amount of dark rich malts make this something really special. The oatmeal smooths out the mouthfeel to create a silky smooth liquid that i don’t want to leve my mouth. Absolutely breathtaking, Im delighted that this is my 200th oteyj (776), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 6, 2009 Courtesy of Jblauvs- thanks Jamie. Pours like squid ink with magnanimous tan head. Aroma is riddled with earthy espresso, fudge, cream (I creamed my pants by the way), and gratuitous roast. Flavor is in the running for the most wonderful substance I’ve ever quaffed. Roast hits like a freight train, with the deep espresso notes following and lingering like heaven. Chocolate is delicious, balance is unparalleled. Palate is thick, rich, sliky, and creamy. Every facet of delivery is covered. Incredible example of the style, and a brew that deserves the utmost respect. Expertly crafted- one of the best Imperial Stouts I’ve had to date. craftycarl21 (560), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 6, 2009 pours pitch black with a brown head- incredible. Aroma is otherworldly- tons of coffee, but incredibly earthy- can smell the difference between the civet coffee and normal coffee in impys. Lots of chocolate, creaminess, and heavy roasted malt. Flavor is also phenomenal- heavy coffee, cream, chocolate. Palate is better than almost any beer i’ve had- rich, smooth- I can’t even express this beer in the proper words. Absurdly good.
