Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at Nøgne Ø, Norway.
This imperial Oatmeal stout is brewed with one of the world’s most expensive coffees, made from droppings of weasel-like civetcats. The fussy Southeast Asian animals only eat the best and ripest coffee berries.Enzymes in their digestive system help to break down the bean. Workers collect the bean-containing droppings for Civet or Weasel Coffee. The exceedingly rare Civet Coffee has a strong taste and an even stronger aroma.
Ingredients : Water, malts, hops, yeast and Vietnamese ca phe chon coffee.

Bottle. The pour sucks you right in, blacker than black can be, with a towering brown foam top. The aroma has an almost medicinal aspect, promising a wicked brew. But this drinks surprisingly easily, with just a hint of the almost 11% ABV lurking beneath. It’s otherwise a full-flavored java and vanilla-bean-laden stout, finishing with a sweet swirl. Delish! Wow, a nice surprise from friend @trevor211. Great dark pour with ring of off white head. Boozy, irish coffee nose. Sharp coffee (unique too, it comes through) and boozy taste. Intense, acidic and some surprisingly nice spice and fruit. Scary intense flavors, awesome. Rating #300.

Tasted at ratebeer tasting 07/09. Spiced cookie, coffee and toffee aroma. Deep brown color with beige long-lasting head, medium body, silky palate. Tastes like coffee with cream, some butterscotch and chocolate malt.

Big foamy brown headthat settles to a thin lid. Colour is black as a winters night. Aroma is full of coffee, chocolate, spices and is heavily roasted and warming. It is a bit thinner than expected though. Flavour is full of coffee, alcohol, dark chocolate and brown sugar and also some spices. It is rather acidic too and to be honest I find it to make the flavour a bit unbalanced. Mouthfeel is rather smooth, but the carbonation is actually a bit too strong. This beer is very good, no question about it, my expectations were so high that it still is a bit of a disappointment to me, every time I open a Mikkeller brew I expect perfection and this one is a little short of that.

this was my first beer of 5 new-beer session. i rated it as the best vs. stone russian imperial, great divide espresso yeti, founders imp and sam smith imp. obviously not worth the price, but a very nice beer. that said, i’d still rather drink a founders breakfast stout.

Bottled:
Pours black with a weak head. Aroma is sweet, sticky liquorice, nougat and Jägermeister. Flavour is sweet and malty with touches of Jägermeister. Mouth feel is surprisingly thin. Finish is dry and roasty with warming alcohol. Where’s the coffee?

Bottle. Pours jet black with a frothy two finger brown head that left spotty lacing. Aroma of bittersweet chocolate, dark coffee, licorice, roasted malts and has a hint of vanilla. Flavor was rich and roasted with a silky and creamy mouthfeel. Taste was roasted coffee, dark chocolate roasted malts, alcohol, licorice and a touch of vanilla with a slightly bitter alcohol finish. Excellent imp stout

initial aroma of dirty oat sweetness and filthy joe. aroma quickly evolves to strong booze with pseudo wood esters as well. flavor is thick overbrewed coffee, dark pit berry and black cherry. ’5’ mouthfeel, so lingering and filthy dirty, super coating. bottom pour of bottle is ultra chunky mud. alcohol esters in aroma become blueberry as palate adjusts and beer opens.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with good retention recedes leaving spot lacing. Espresso aromas. Sweet creamy chocolate and espresso upfront with a last espresso finish.
