bottle, light tan head that quickly disappears, no legs or lacing to speak of, medium brown color, bright barley wine flavors of plums and caramel, a crisp finish of prune and raisin, very nice

A Mes rate: 37.5cl bottle at Maria’s Ton Up Tasting, BIG thanks to Martin Engelsman.
Martin is a great bloke. We randomly bumped into him at Grote Dorst and he asked if we had had this before. When I said no, he thrust this bottle in my hands. MUCH obliged sir. Absolutely beautiful dark-red amber-brown with an excellent beige head and an awesome snowstorm of dark brown bubbles when swilled. Big cheesy and funky barley wine aroma. Lots of barley, a huge slug of malt and some awesome American hops. Some notes of earth and iodine too. Big, boozy and lovely. Flavour follows on well. Incredible thick resinous hops with a wonderfully boozy finish. Gorgeous barley, outstanding balance and a ton of everything but just perfectly poised. It’s rare to find such a well balanced barley wine and when I do I generally fall head over heels with them. This is no exception. The sweetness that is so often overdone is just absolutely spot on here. It’s the finish that makes it. Gobsmacking bitterness initially then a peppery sting from the alcohol leading to lingering malt in the aftertaste giving superb development in the mouth. Velvet smooth mouthfeel offset by the prickly alcohol and hops carry it all so very well. Absolutely awesome.

(375ml bottle) Pours a clear amber with a small beige head. Aroma of breadiness, cherry, light orange, toffee, light pineapple, dates, and some vanilla. Flavor of caramel malt, dark bread, toffee, dark fruits, and light citrus with a dry, bitter finish.

Pour is deep warm amber with a thin off white head...smell is sweet and citric with lots of bitter grapefruit but faint FAINT notes of biscuits...thick sweet mouthfeel...chewy sweet flavors...mostly sweetness of alcohol and citric sweetness with the citric sweetness turing to hoppy bitterness...this is a very drinkable beer, but is far from amazing...it just reminds me of an american barleywine/IIPA...

Pour is hazy amber with frothy off white head. Aromas of hops, caramel, and malt. Surprisingly sweet to start off, then you get some hops, followed by a warming alcohol hit at the end. Wish I had more bigger bottles. I think I enjoyed this one a little to much!

Bottle.Small semi-fizzy ivory head that mostly diiminished, spotty lacing, hazy, carbonation observed, and an orange brown hue. Nose was hoppy, malty, some toffee and citrus.Flavor was sweet, biting, malty, hoppy, caramel, some citrus and finishes dry.Mouthfeel was a buring in the back of the throat sensation.Medium in body.Quaffable, nicely done but my drawback was that I did not like the burning sensation that this delivered to the back of my throat. Not nice.Worthy of a try though.

Bottle. Mahogony beer with a dark cream colored head. Malty, vanilla aroma with backing hops. Malty flavor with light sherry and backing hops - seems a bit oxidized. Medium body. Lingering malt, pine, and sherry. Decent bitterness. No pop on cork and being slightly oxidized I don’t think it’ll age well - or at least my bottle wouldn’t have. Alcohol well hidden.
