(375 ml bottle from 1828 Vintage House, cellared for 11 mos. after purchase) Pours murky brownish, slightly amber. Almost looks like unfiltered sweet cider. Very slight tannish head is mostly just a ring around the edges. Aroma of big candy-malt and a bit of pine. Mouthfeel is smooth and almost lightly granular, although also rather soft. Flavor of big sugary malt and some light caramel. Lots of alcohol along for the ride. Good if you like a hot and sugary barleywine. Just not enough complexity and too much ABV presence to be a great beer, but still good.

Nice caramel color with almost no head. Very sweet caramel and plum aroma with a hint of alcohol. Nice sweet caramel and plum flavors with a little hoppy bite in the finish. Nice combination.

Bottle at Haket, Göteborg shared with Gnoff. pours dark brown with white head. Aroma and taste, grainy, boozy, candy sugar with plenty of malts and some residual bitterness. Raisins, figs.

Pours hazy brown with not much head at all. Berry, honey, roast caramel malt, and soy aroma. Taste is very complex with spice, roast, hop citrus, honey, and a general bitterness. Feel is a little thin but overall the beer is very well balanced with a lingering bitter finish. And this beer even in a bad bottle(which the descriptions in the previous posts sound like the normal Mikkeller beer) is better than a 1, I mean come on.

So, I had this beer with BeerBaron617...actually I bought it with intention of having it for his birthday - however we’re a week or so late on that. Never the less, I had high hopes. The beer was a little pricey, and I had heard good things about the brewery, so it didn’t bother me to spend a little extra. Maybe it was a bad bottle. Anyhoo...it poured a nice dark brown color that was a bit cloudy with a dark caramel colored head that was almost non-existent. It’s aroma was strong! Very sweet, but at the same time quite a bit like dark fruits and alcohol. Taste, well, incredibly sweet and a lot like alcohol. I almost felt like I was having a cocktail. I am not a fan. I feel like they didn’t do a good job making a well balanced beverage. I am nervous to try another mikkeller.

Shared a 12.2 oz bottle with MereLIkesBeer I’m almost positive that we had a bad bottle, that was more than likely stored improperly. This poured a hazy dark brown, with no head. It’s aroma was honestly sticky sweet, and strong on the alcohol. The flavor was the same, completely unbalanced, and overall a bad beer drinking experience. It’s a shame, as I had pretty high hopes for this first impression from this brewery.

It’s always refreshing to get a quality barleywine after not having had one in awhile. It sort of rekindles the taste for the style that one enjoys so much. This did that for me. While not the worlds greatest barleywine, it’s tasty. The only drawback was the $$$$ I spent at Perry’s getting it. The aroma was sweet caramel, dried fruits (light and dark) and alcohol. Body is cloudy, orange/brown (rusty) color with a small, quick melting head. Flavor is distinctly sweet, huge malts, medium piney/fruity hops, alcohol and toffee. Mouthfeel is sticky and medium thick. Finish is a little hot.

the pour was brown and murky with virtually no head to speak of but lots of thick clinging to the walls of the glass aromas of cotton candy, camamel malts flavors of the same, sweet of sugar and a touch of fruits, strong of alcohol but hidden very well being it is 12%ABV hats off a great barley wine
