mspindler (301), Alta Loma, California, USA Apr 8, 2009 Bottle shared with friends at Hophead22s place. Pours pitch black with a thin brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and an alcoholic twinge. Big, sweet chocolatey flavor with coffee and decent bitterness. Really got better as it warmed. Somewhat chalky and pretty hot, too. Palate is thick and syrupy but it finishes pretty dry. Good and I wish I had a couple more bottles to hold on to for a while. crondonik (32), California, USA Apr 8, 2009 Bottled. Opened right outa fridge which led to aromas of alchohol and bitter dark malt. The first way too cold sip was also overpowred by alchohol but also had flavors of dark chocolate, green hops, and more alchy. when i Let it warm to its best temp it had aromas of rich esspresso, dark bakers chocolate, more coffee and hops. The taste was much more even and was not overpowrd by the alchohol or th hop bitterness. Taste was very rich and full and was llike a 13.1% beer should be. Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Apr 5, 2009 Updated: Apr 8, 2009375ml bottle shared by mspindler, thanks for bringing this Mike. Boozy, chocolate aroma. Dark black pour. Sweet, but bitter at the same time, more alcohol heat as well. This was good, will be even better with some time on it. Jonte (801), Gothenburg, Sweden Apr 4, 2009 Updated: Apr 5, 2009Bottle. Black colour with a small brown head. Aroma: roastiness, coffee, licorice, saltiness, dark fruit, molasses, earth, outhouse!?, herbal hops. Taste: roasted, coffee, light sweetness, hops, a bit sour, saltiness, pepper, alcohol, charcoal, a bit herbal. Light carbonation. A bit too hot and peppery. Probably needs a bit more aging. EHopper (274), Minnesota, USA Mar 28, 2009 Dark, dark dark, with thick, deeply creamy head.. Profound aroma of malt, expresso, flowers, and dust, with a completely unique combination of flavors that add sweetness and brightness to these dark aromas, with additional hints of red grapefruit, kiwi, mango, chocolate, over ripe grapes, luxurious oak and ash. Loved it and must share it. badlizard (2325), Berkeley, California, USA Mar 27, 2009 Yummy. Black with a foamy brown head. Coffee dominates the aroma with alcohol following. Thick buttery palate. Dark bitter chocolate and strong espresso taste. Excellent. This beer is under rated. Seriously this is a damn good imperial stout. It is a really big beer with a lot of flavor. If you can’t deal with that stick to your pale ale. radiomgb (1920), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Mar 27, 2009 Deep black in colour with a lingering thin tan head, good lacing. The aroma is very sweet, lots of alcohol, vinous, some molasses, fruit cake and burnt fruits. The flavour is alcoholic, lots of dark fruits, roasty, very vinous, lots of cake and just very malty in general. Very warm mouthfeel, medium body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, very warm and malty.
It’s now 1 year old and this is starting to round out. I’m sure that it will take a bit longer but the alcohol has mellowed some.

NMC01 (58), Denmark Mar 27, 2009 Very nice stout.I have experienced this stout on tap and bottle. The tapped version is better and with (of course) a longer lasting foam. It is absolutely one of those stouts with attitude; though this one is a bit sticky and sweet. Burned malts are the dominating flavour and well hidden alcohol burden. To be enjoyed by itself.
