Commercial Description:
Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

Pitch black with little head. Boozy sweet mocha aroma with sugar, eaweed, and blackened malts. Medium body. Good flavors of strong espresso with a lump of sugar. Finishes with a black malt dryness. The alcohol stayed out of the way here for the most part.

70cl Bottle. Poured deep opaque black with a medium sized tan head. Aroma of roasted chocolate malt and coffee. Tastes of roasted coffee, chocolate malts, bakers chocolate bittering, and light caramel. Thick body and mouth feel. Alcohol hidden very well. Very nice.

Bottle from Marcus, corked and caged. Thanks Dave. Pours black with a decent dark tan head. Aromas of tar, anise, dark fruits, dark toasted malt, coffee and arguably cacao. Full bodied with soft and creamy carbonation. There’s a bit of heat. There’s a hint of tar. There’s a lot of dark malt sweet, but there’s balancing bitter from something. Could be overtoasted malts. The alcohol tends to be ever present. Finish is not all that sweet. Definitely a sipper. Very enjoyable in the mouth.

Oily swirl and small tan ring sitting atop the black body. The nose is malt strong with licorice and slight dark fruit, like plums. Flavor has some coffee, roast malt, alcohol, a little vanilla. Palate is quite thin and watery for such a big beer. Again, not very impressed with Mikkeller, and another big beer that I find over-pronounced and overrated.

Black colored brew. Chocolate, coffee in the aroma. Intense liquorice, coffee bitterness. Dark chocolate. A bit too much liquorice maybe.

12.7 oz bottle: Aroma is floral but dirty. Muddy malt characteristics meld with a syrupy chocolate note that comes across as a truffle, nice caramel notes with a undertone of day old campfire clothes, some dark raisin notes, a really roasty note finishes off the aroma. No scratch that some very light fruity hop notes coming through as well. Really nice aroma to say the least. Appearance is dark black with a minimal tan head that lingers around for a while. Taste is mouth filling. Transforming with every sip. Wonderful roasted malt, chocolate, liqour, and caramel. A very nice Impy stout. I like this alot!! Cheers!!
