| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Aug 14, 2008 Did not enjoy this, I found it difficult to finish. Aroma is decent - coffee. chocolate, and alcohol. Pours deep brown with rocky tan head. But the flavor profile is dominated by alcohol - too much as it overpowers everything else. Coffee flavor is underwhelming. Peche Mortel is a far better impy stout brewed with coffee, especially considering the price of this one. Not very drinkable or enjoyable. bp (455), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 9, 2008 Bottle: pours pitch black with just a ring of dark tan head around the edge of the snifter, aroma of dark fruits and chocolate, taste is bitter, dark fruits, some of the alcohol is present, thin mouthfeel which I don’t really care for in an Imperial Stout. Not worth the price I had to pay ($14) to get one of these. TaktikMTL (2758), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Aug 8, 2008 Updated: Aug 12, 2008This is my rating number 100 - and to celebrate that this one has to go out to Mikkeller. I chose to rate Black Hole because I believe that Mikkel is brewing some of the best imperial stouts there is - and maybe this is not the very best but it is still a heavy weight champion. This one is from the new batch 2008.
Here goes..im popping the 35 cl champange bottle (Isn´t Mikkeller by the way the only one using champange-bottles besides the Belgian Lambic-brewers?) What a beauty - it poursa black body with a huge fluffy dark brown head... and the head stays.... The nose is sweet and a little vinoes - heavy hoppy notes and roasted malts, coffee and burned malts with som dry raisins maybe. The mouthfull is huge with a sparkling warm and creamy/fat palate. with a biting finish due to the amound of hops. It has a dark sweetness and I taste burned coffee-beans, brown sugar, roasted malts, plumps and dry fruits with the bitterness from the american hops in the end. This is a meal in its self - Is the appetizder, the main course and the dessert - (you could add some whipped cream on top for the dessert).
I believe that this new batch is more balanced and smooth than the batch from 07.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Aug 7, 2008 Updated: Aug 12, 2008black in color with very little head but good lacing. Has a strong aroma of alcohol with notes of molasses and chocolate. the flavor is of yeast, alcohol and molasses with a hint of chocolate. Bitter throughout. the palate was suprisingly watery, I expected it to be a little heavier. Overall I’d say it’s a decent beer with a good kick but I was slightly let down. m4rest88 (216), Beverly Hills, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 7, 2008 A special thanks to my buddy bman1113vr’s girlfriend.....
Pours with virtually no head. The body hue is dark brown, even black.
The initial aroma is of molasses, chocolate, and coffee. The initial flavor is lightly-moderately sweetand finishes bitter with a lots alcohol flavoring. In fact the beer has an alcoholic leg when you tip the glass! It feels creamy to the palate, and has soft carbonation. BMan1113VR (2813), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 7, 2008 Bottle thanks to my amazing girlfriend! Bottle labeled at 13.1% abv. Pours with a small, quickly vanishing light brown head. Black body. Good lacing with alcohol legs as well. Aroma of alcohol, chocolate, a bit flowery, with molassas, wet cedar, some tar and liccorice. Taste is a bit of a dissapointment compaired to the smell. Yeasty, some alcohol, chocolate, but not much complexity at all. A bit warming, but not to bad consider the ABV. Syrupy with light carbonation. chicagodri (1041), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 2, 2008 Pours a very dark black with a thin tan head. Strong aroma of coffee and chocolate. It has a bit of a kick to it (which it should for 14%). Has a little bit of bitterness to it. Lots of coffee, chocolate, and a bit of dark fruit to the flavor. Almost has a syrup like consistency to it.
