Commercial Description:
Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

Very dark with a small tan head. Light roasted malts, chocolate, ripe dark fruits, lactose, some alcohol, and light sourness. Very fun aroma. Full bodied. Intense flavor. Coffee, cocoa, molasses, strong alcohol; very harsh overall. Finishes hot, hot, hot! The aroma didn’t relate as well to the flavor as much as I would have liked, but a good stout if you enjoy painful, bitter brews- like I do.

Brown-black, very thin head. Sweet smell dark chocolate and tootsie roll. Faint alcohol bite. Tates initially sweet, with licorice, chocilate and coffee flavors.

Well, its black with a big tan head. Nose is cocoa, burnt malt, tons and tons of alcohol, leading to astringency. Dark fruits are there but hard to find past the smell of my nose hair burning. Flavor is all about alcohol - way too much. There are cherries & cocoa in there but mostly its burnt alcohol. Super astringent, overly bitter finish.

Dark, almost totally black. Has a dark, lasting head. Aroma is deep, heavy, chocolate, coffee, esters. Perhaps a bit too heavy. Flavor is heavy sweet, bitter finish, complex. Fully body.

New batch bottle at Chris_O’s 19th April 2008 tasting. Pours black with a line of beige head. Exquisite aroma of cloves, eucalyptus, rosemary, coffee and more. The flavour is similar yet more intense - it really is harsh on the tongue. It’s slick and escapes the mouth leaving the herb flavours in the corners of your mouth. Interesting stuff.

Black with a brown head. The aroma is aggressive with strong notes of coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla, cherry, oak, rum, coughing sirup, dark dried fruits, alcohol and tobacco. It carries its high ABV very well in the flavours. They begin sweet and go into a warming alcohol presence combined with a complex bitterness. In the end however you begin to feel like something torn out of Kubirck’s 2001 - at least if youre not sharing the bottle. And on this very night I was making a hop odessey on my own.

Dark black pour with a small creamy tan head. Lots of coffee in the aroma and flavor. Actually coffee seems to dominate this one. Also hints of cocoa, dark fruit, spice, and molasses. Creamy in the mouth. Alcohol is very well hidden. Seriously smooth and drinkable.
