Commercial Description:
Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

Ristet malt, bitter mørk chokolade, kaffe og frisk citrus humle. Fyldig krop, En anelse alkohol, men ikke meget for 14%) Gemmer den anden et år mere

bottle. quite delicious, although not worth the high price, when you can get a 6 of storm king for less $$. pours a mild black with a nice 2 finger tan head. great licorice, coffee and plum aromas... excellent on the tongue and palate. thick on the tip of the tongue with the licorice / coffee flavors coming through the most... soft on the sides and thin underneath.... big and full on the top and powerful on the finish. the licorice notes and alcohol come through really strong on the finish, which makes this one stand out... the 14% is not really noticeable at all... until you get up.... a really solid imperial stout.... definitely glad I bought and had one, but I can’t justify the price again....

Inky black pour. Very thin dark chocolate head even on a heavy pour. Spotty lacing. Bitter chocolate, day old charcoal, a touch of coffee grounds with an omnipresent vinous nose. Sounds pretty F’d up. Sweetened soy sauce twang, super bitter baking chocolate combined with aspirin, mild colombian coffee undertones, and a very young, grapey cabernet flavor dominate. Finishes ashy and sharp. Are there any hops in this? Alcohol almost undetectable on the nose but a little hot on the finish. But the more I drink the more elusive it gets. Go figure. Overall body is medium density. However, this stuff is a masterpiece of understatement. Not balanced at all and definitely not worth $10. Maybe $5. Overall package lacks classic impy stout flavor and feel. Needs a reworking. Let it get a little warmer and then tell me you like it that much.

Bottle: (ABV= 13.1%) Near black pour with some dark ruby at the edges and a wispy deep brown ring for head. Dark chocolate, alcohol, wood, light vinous notes, tar, and more alcohol which tingles the nose hairs. A bit thin feeling, but with tons of alcohol in the flavor. Tarry, ashy, burnt bitterness, with dark chocolate grittiness, licorice and more alcohol. Finish has more ash and burnt bitterness. Not really balanced; a hot mess.

Corked, caged, and foiled 12.7 oz. green bottle. Pours an inky black with a struggling head of cocoa. No lacing. Aromas are boozy plus some anise and bitter baking chocolate. Biting flavors with strong anise, bitter cocoa, roasted coffee bean, and a smidge of yeastiness. Creamy feel gives way to a sharp boozy mess. Not worth the price now, and not worth it to get another bottle to age and see if it mellows.

This poured a black color with a beige head. The aroma contains some alcohol, charcoal, and chocolate. The flavor is a bit on the aggressive side with an alcohol bite. I get some coffee, licorice, and dark chocolate. Overall this is too over the top to call it a great beer. Balanced it is not!

Corked bottle. Black and opague. Licorice, roast, cream and dark chocolate in the aroma. Malty sweet, full bodied. Salty flavor with licorice, pepper and coffee. Creamy chocolate. Very tasty, the alcohol is well hidden, the balance is fair, but there are a few raw edges that prevent this beer from scoring even higher.
