Commercial Description:
Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

Bottle. Pretty good imp. stout. The alcohol is hidden very well. Aroma and flavor of chocolate and coffee.

Bottle. It’s stout Jim but not as we know it. This pours black as its namesake with a brown head that is short-lived but leaves a good amount of lacing. On the nose are coffee beans, roasted malts, soy sauce, yeast with an underlying saltiness, a bit like the ocean. Smooth and oily on the palate, it has flavours of liquorice, sugar, cloves, more coffee and a little bit of alcohol. The guys at Mikkeller are doing great things with stout. Adventurous and delicious.

My word this was a powerful brew! Bottle from beermerchants.com. Pours a deep black with a head that doesn’t last very long. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malts. Hell of a lot going on in the flavour with raisins, sultanas, dark chocolate, coffee, more coffee and lots more I can’t put my finger on! The mouthfeel attacks you with alcohol and a certain sweetness. Finishes big and bold and full of warming alcohol. Definately not a session beer!

From the Bottle at Chris O’s, GBBF Week 09/08/2008 Big roast and coffee aromas. Small beige head. Black and very strong in alcohol with a little dryness in a bitter and fruity warming coffee roast finish.

Pours black with an oily thin beige head. Aroma is ripe fruit, raisin, spicy alcohol. Flavor is rich roasty malt, raisins, soy sauce, coffee, and a bit of chocolate. Alcohol becomes very present as this warms.

12.7oz bottle - Have you ever had a mixed drink with waaaay too much liquor in it? That’s what this felt like to me. Nearly no carbonation, and a distracting amount of booze to body. DNF

Bottle. Pours a thick black with a very this tan head. Aroma is strong with coffe, burnt malts, and alcohol. Notes of dark chocolate and sweet fruits come out as well. On the palate, it is intense. There is a warm alcohol burn. The flavor brings out the maltiness at first, but it gives way to chocolate, and finially, more alcohol. Very strong beer, a little overpowering, but I enjoyed it.

Bottle shared by AndyReynolds. Holy shit this is a strong beer. No joke here, this one is serious. Aggressive, mean, and will propbably hurt your feelings. Strong aromas of burnt malt, coffee, and alcohol. Hard hitting flavor that slams you with chocolate, malts, and coffee with a bit of sweet fruits in there as well. Medium body and moderate to heavy bitter finish. Overpowering and in no way balanced. Alcohol really comes out as it warms. I’m glad I split half of the bottle. This is not the most drinkable thing in the world...but kind of intriguing. Probably would have completely kicked ass at half the ABV. I would like to try this again though.
