Commercial Description:
Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

Black body with ruby tinges and good size, tight beaded, tan head. Coffee notes on the aroma then a strong whiff of smoke then chocolate. Chocolate and coffee in the taste although it is a little like a baltic porter with loads of alcohol.

Poured black with a dark brown head. Rich strong aroma of roasty malts and dark fruits, an interplay of bitter and sweet. Flavor is surprisingly sweet though not intensely alcoholic as I expected... with strong notes of chocolate, vanilla, and dark fruits with a slight roasty hop kick. More drinkable than I initially gave it credit for, and a nice imperial stout overall.

Black pour with very little tan head. Sweet milk choc. aroma with apricot, alcohol, smoke, and hop spice. Alcohol is strong in the taste then there is chocolate, plum, and roast bitter. Pretty crazy stuff.

Bottle. Love this beer. Pure black, with almost no head. Molasses, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, oily, thick body. Amazing beer.

Pours with an oily black body and no head to speak of. Nose has smoke, coffee roast, dark chocolate and vanilla with residual sweetness detectable. Palate has huge depth and power but maintains great balance. Rich choc makes way for honey sweetness before coffee roast comes into play. The sweetness masks the power of the dark malt quite well and stops it from being overly bitter/sweet or astringent, but still has plenty of power & presence. Finishes with a combination of dark choc fudge, coffee, vanilla and lingering honey sweetness. Absolutely awesome beer, great complexity & impeccable balance despite big abv and general profile.

Bottle from Parti-Pak Liquors (Indianapolis, IN). Pours a dark muddy and murky black with no head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of booze, wood, smole, ripe dark fruits, molasses, brown sugar. Flavor is roasted and malty with notes of coffee, booze, bourbon, vanila, wood, smoke, some light floral hops in the background. Generally medium to full body with a pleasing roasted malt finish.

Thanks kiefdog for the share. Pours dark brown with an almost nonexistent off-white head. Nose is roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, and some booze. Does not come across as 13% ETOH at all. Flavor is sticky coffee, dark roast, and some slight booziness. Medium bodied and lingering with cafe con leche. Tons of yellow lace on the glass, and a nice medium-full bodied beer.

Bottle. This is dark almost black in the glass with a thin tan head. The aroma is leafy green, full of hops with some chocolate, dark coffee beans, wood, a vague sourness. The mouthfeel is thick and a bit syrupy: really quite nice. I taste more leafy hops with plenty of bitterness, dark roasted coffee, dark fruit, some burnt wood, more bitterness in the finish.
