Commercial Description:
Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

Pours a thin tan head that fades and a dark brown body. Smells of toast, burnt sugar, and a little smoke. Tastes of brown sugar, alcohol, toast, maple. Finish is bitter and sticky. Little thin.

Bottle at Toncatchers. Thanks to lagunitasfan for bringing this. A black pour with a minimal tan head. The aroma was of dark fruits and some coffee. The taste was more of the same, lots of complex coffee and mocha with a touch of anise. The mouthfeel was full and smooth. The finish long and sticky. Overall: another winner from Mikkeller.

12.7oz bottle, corked and caged, from CBX. pours an oily, very dark black, with hints of mocha at the edges, and a thin, dark tan head with solid lacing. aroma is fantastic and slightly sweet with big notes of dark chocolate, toffee, mocha coffee, black licorice, roasty malt, and soy sauce with a hint of booze. flavor is unbelievable with huge, sweet flavors of brown sugar, toffee, and chocolate up front backed by dark coffee with cream, caramel, vanilla, smoke, dark fruits, and hints of Ouzo. palate is full bodied and oil slick with low carbonation and a long, smokey sweet, licorice finish. overall, this is a huge, complex, and delicious imperial stout.

Pitch black with a thick mocha head with good retention and lacing. Aroa is sweet, with a ton of chocolate, roasted malt and caramel. Flavor is chocolate, cream, caramel, vanilla, roasted malt, alcohol, hops and a bitter finish. Full body with a creamy mouthfeel. Excellent!

Toncatchers 2. Nose is rich dark malt. Vigorous pour resulted in no head after no pop from the cap. Taste is sourness and alcohol. Sharp afters. Gooey in the back of the mouth. Smooth sweet vanilla started to show as it warmed. Alcohol ending.

Poured a dark black with a tan head and some floaties. Big aroma of chocolate and roast coffee. Vanilla notes, sweet, with mild bitterness.

Bottle at the Nashville BA tasting. Pours black with a wisp of a brown head. Aroma of molasses and licorice. Chewy mouthfeel. Flavor of molasses, brown sugar, anise, and a small hint of smoke countered by just enough bitterness to keep it in balance. This is on the sweet side, but I kind of like it that way. Good beer.
