Had been looking forward to opening this beer all weekend and I was not disappointed. Dark pour with coffee and chocolate notes that hit your nose as you pour. Coffee with slight chocolate notes on the tongue. Brilliant. vtafro (469), , New Jersey, USA

Bottle. Black pour. Significantly better than the last bottle. ABV well hidden, flavor is intense but fits together.
Original Rating:
Bottle. Decent stout, had a hard time finishing this entire bottle due to the abv, which isn’t hidden but at 13+. its hard to do entirely. Give it a try might need to try it again, definitely not my favorite mikkeller or imperial stout. 3.2 beernbourbon (263), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jun 10, 2009 Can’t believe I have not rated this one yet, this is one of my all time favorites and I always have a few around. Pour Is black with a thin quickly diminishing head. Aroma is slightly off in a pleasing way: chocolate, lurking sourness, coffee, roasted malt, pine hop, black licorice, tobacco, dried fruits, and faint alcohol. Flavor is brown sugar malt, chocolate, slight sourness, coffee, dried dark fruits, tobacco, and a late acohol bite. The finish lingers forever and is much like the initial flavor: sugary sweetness balanced by pine hops, coffee, tobacco, faint sourness, and happiness. The flavor lingers for so long that I only need a sip every 7-10 minutes to keep me satisfied. Tastes just as good now as it did 18 months ago. Ahh, so good. ScottyP (314), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA

Very dark brown with reddish highlights and minimal ring of tan head. Nose is chocolate, and hints of alcohol. Very large warming quality on the finish, but still hides the abv pretty well. Very vegetal in the flavor. A little thin on palate. Chocolate covered expresso beans. Again, way too expensive. I really think this one is very overrated. MmmcKay (269), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 7, 2009 Butters 6 millionth cellar reduction tasting extravaganza. Coffee, dirty earth aromas. With green fruit. Reminds me of a Carmenere in wine. Smoke and rum soaked fruits. Tasty. I like Mikkeller a lot as a whole. But I couldn’t drink a lot of it. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Smells of toast, burnt sugar, and a little smoke. Tastes of brown sugar, alcohol, toast, maple. Finish is bitter and sticky. Little thin. stefanje (938), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA

A black pour with a minimal tan head. The aroma was of dark fruits and some coffee. The taste was more of the same, lots of complex coffee and mocha with a touch of anise. The mouthfeel was full and smooth. The finish long and sticky. Overall: another winner from Mikkeller.
