Bottle:   Black as Coffee, moderate to large light brown head, foamy, sticky lacing.   Alcohol is certainly noticeable on the nose.   Otherwise some roasted malts and quite a bit of coffee bean.   Whoa, definitely fiery on the tongue.   Hot, but not too harsh.   Flavorwise we got some roasted malts and coffee bean.   Seems pretty simple.   Not sure what all the hype is about, as this one seems rather ordinary, albeit with a bit more UMPH.   Has a bit of an earthy/basement accent.   Certainly tasty, but also a bit young.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Green on the finish.   Not as alcoholic as I found previously.   Certainly good, but not special enough to warrant the hefty price tag.

Aromas of molasses, coffee, light anise, slightly balsamic fruitiness, an overall heavy nose. Dark coffee and molasses brown, and completely opaque. There is no sweetness whatsoever with heavy bitter flavor, reminiscent of coffee (surprise, surprise). Although there is no discernible licorice flavor, the beer takes over the palate in the same way that licorice does. On the front of the palate, there is not a huge amount of complexity. On the back of the palate, other flavors such as molasses, the balsamic fruitiness, and a heavy charred flavor linger for more than a minute. The carbonation is low, but everything else on the palate is just big. Overall, this is a fantastic beer. Everything that I could have hoped for and more. A truly unique beer drinking experience.

Nose has raisins, dates, vanilla bean, and bread crust. Palate hits hard with coffee with a unique graphite accent, almost like a good Pauillac. Wow is all I can say.

Bottle shared by badnewsbeers. Opaque deep brown/black body with reddish highlights at the edges, thin, clumping buff head. Potent, complex nose of raisins, plum, molasses and soy, vinous, with chocolate and subdued roast and hints of sherry-like oxidation. Very sweet body with abundant plum and raisins, soy, and sherry, which quickly dissipates to a thin, almost metallic finish. I was surprised by how quickly the malt heft vaporized, which reminded me of the way cheap bubble gum offers a quick hit of tasty sugars before becoming flavorless and unpleasant to chew. This beer needed more hops, more roast, or something else to give the body more "oomph" and depth. Disappointing.

38cl, Danish brewery, from Slijterij van Bergen Eindhoven, very complex sweet Stout, very balanced, cloudy, nearly no head, a topper!, yet expensive

Bottle. The beer looked wonderful in the glass, black as sin with a very small but creamy foam. The aroma was very inviting. Roasted tones, a lot of coffee, chocolate, sweet malt. Oh, what a wonderful aroma! The taste was also exceptionally pleasant. Coffee but not as much as in the aroma, chocolate. A lot of raisin and dark berries, vanilla and roasted malt. The body was not screaming heavy but medium plus. Not very carbonated. Very nice beer to drink, there was a lot of other flavor nuances that are difficult to really describe. Blackhole felt surprisingly soft in the mouth. Yes, a real treat that reminded of port wine.

Bottle. Still looking thick black beer with little to no head. The aroma is sugary sweet malty, and the flavour is very rich but also very, very bitter with a port wine like body. Overall a complex beer maybe a little too strong at times.

bottle poured a deep brown bordering on black with a little ring of brown head. aroma has tons of rich malt, dark bitter chocolate, coffee, light cocoa sweetness, a touch of hops, and very light alcohol considering what a big beast this is. mouth feel is super chewy with little carbonation making it a bit thick. flavor has a hefty dose of malt, coffee, bitter chocolate, light roast, molasses sweetness, and some hops lying underneath. plenty sweet but has a nice contrasting bitterness.
