Aroma is tons of roast and chocolate, a moderate amount of alcohol, light notes of soy sauce and molasses. Taste is very roasty with alot of chocolate, some burnt sugars and molasses, and somewhat hot with ethanol. Medium to full body, finishes with alot of roast, chocolate, and some alcohol burn. This is going to be awesome once it mellows. Thanks goes out to whoever shared this bottle! altonbrownd (1962), Amsterdam, Netherlands

Intensely rich nose of chocolate, soy, tawny port, booze, honey, mushroom, and mild coffee. Complex brew without question. Flavor is just as intense with loads of vanilla booze, deep black chocolate, and more port-like tones. Medium bodied and slick, soft carbonation, dry, bittersweet finish. Think of a cross between Avery Czar, WWS, and Bell’s Batch 7000. A very well made Imperial Stout which I ’m glad to have tried... stouby (1955), Holbaek, Denmark

Huge thanks to sk8viking for this bottle. wonderful aromas of coffee, chocolate and coffee. Roastiness comes through as well, and so does quite a bit of coffee. Black coffee on the flavor as well. More roastiness. Excellent hop finish. One of the best Impy stouts i have ever had. tronraner (1938), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Feb 15, 2008 Bottle. Pours very black with a tight, grayish dark tan head. The aroma at first makes me think of a barleywine, what with the alcohol, strong spicy maltiness, woody hops, and sweet caramel. But then I get wafts of chocolate and coffee as well, along with a really weird medicinal, antiseptic note. That strange antiseptic quality is the first thing I notice in the flavor, too, and much more strongly. It’s seriously like mouthwash. I think the combination of the slightly biting herbal hops and the alcohol combine in a way that makes it resemble the mouthwash I typically use. I just can’t shake the association, and it’s ruining the beer for me bigtime. But if I can pay attention to the rest of the flavor for a minute, it’s got a nice roasty quality to it with occasional hints of chocolate, smoke, and nuts. The finish is surprisingly bitter with plenty of alcohol warmth. Herbal hops linger in the aftertaste for an eternity. This has the potential to be pretty good, but the whole mouthwash deal is more than I can take.
