Commercial Description:
Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

I think the beer hasn’t got a permanent abv, because the label said 13,1% on my 0,33 l bottle. But what a beer...Dark body with a nice and delicious small brown lacing head. Brutal fine liqueric aroma with dried plum, coffee, dark chocolate. The flavor is a bomb of roasted tastes:explosion of the taste of coffee, hard attack of cocoa beans, tons of roasted barley and malt. Pleasant dried plum and raisins in the flavor too. Well hidden alcohol, the roasted flavor dominates the mouthfeel. Long dry and of course roasted aftertaste. Very strong personality with a powerful message.

Very dark with a small tan head. Light roasted malts, chocolate, ripe dark fruits, lactose, some alcohol, and light sourness. Very fun aroma. Full bodied. Intense flavor. Coffee, cocoa, molasses, strong alcohol; very harsh overall. Finishes hot, hot, hot! The aroma didn’t relate as well to the flavor as much as I would have liked, but a good stout if you enjoy painful, bitter brews- like I do.

bottle shared at the KW group tasting. bottle brought by walter, thanks man!! pours black and headless, thin around the edges as well. what a big nose on this beast. nice hops, huge coffee and i really got a lot of belgian candied sugar, but i could be way off. great roasted malt flavours, more chocolate then i was expecting from the nose. thinner mouthfeel then i was expecting but this drank almost scarily easy for its weight. enjoyable but not my favourite imperial stout, very different then the others we had at the tasting and a very nice change of pace in that regard.

Soy sauce color with very small brown head that fades quickly to nothing. Really not as opaque or black as I had expected. Aroma contains coffee and licorice with a definite hop buzz. Taste is intensely bitter with stinging acid and carbonation. Serious espresso taste with a vinous edge, almost grapefruity notes on finish. Very nice, but not up to the hype, and certainly not worth $20/12.7 oz

bottle poured a deep brown bordering on black with a little ring of brown head. aroma has tons of rich malt, dark bitter chocolate, coffee, light cocoa sweetness, a touch of hops, and very light alcohol considering what a big beast this is. mouth feel is super chewy with little carbonation making it a bit thick. flavor has a hefty dose of malt, coffee, bitter chocolate, light roast, molasses sweetness, and some hops lying underneath. plenty sweet but has a nice contrasting bitterness.

Pour a dark, if thin, brown color with some ruby highlights and a short tan to brown in color head. Minimal flecks of lace. The aroma was hops, coffee, light chocolate and some vinous notes. The flavor was roasted coffee, faint pine hops, faint chocolate and some vinous hints. On the dry side, avoids the cloying sweetness. The mouthfeel was thin to medium in body and the finish was abrupt. Decent.

Pours pitch black. Nice tan head that never comes close to getting out of control. mild, but slightly noticable roasted aroma with some chocolate there as well. Flavor makes this extremely drinkable. Goes down smooth as can be. The alcohol seems to be hitting me very quickly here.A higher tone of sweetness than I would have figured. Nice thick malty edge, but not as much coffee as I would have thought coming through. Molasses seems to really peek out as time goes on. Alcohol might be interfering a bit here. Slick on the tongue with a low carbonation. This is a hearty imperial stout. I just don’t feel like it has as much character as I was expecting.
