Commercial Description:
Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

Poured into a snifer, black like wesly snipes.... Small head but the bubbles were big. Nose, lots of alcohol. Roasted malts. Taste is the same, lots of alcohol. It ruins the taste.... Body is oily... Overall, too much alcohol. I should of let it age more.

Bottle 0,375 l. Initially looks delicious, black brown with beige head, but the head disappears quickly leaving a bit flat look. Nose is good, fresh hops (?), coffee, bitter chocolate, candy, some barnyard and golf course, leather maybe, liqourice. Flavor has espresso sourness, (really) bitter chocolate, subtle syrup, gummy bears, malts, maybe even hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. Feels more like a coffee stout to me than imperial stout. Alcohol is not up front, but warms nicely. Body is a bit thinnish for all the ingredients with just about perfect carb. Doesnt like being in glass for too long, but falls flat rather quickly, and you cannot drink this as quickly.

Deep rich, dark pour. Smelled like coffee, soy sauce and dark malts. Flavor was much of the same: Soy sauce, chocolate, coffee and malts. Incredibly strong. Overdone, sweet and just too much. Not a Mikkeller fan, sorry.

Bottle from Monument. The green bottle kind of took me aback, given that Ive never had good luck with green or clear bottles. Brown or can have been the only mediums that have worked for me. Poured a black with tannish head. The malts in this one are strong, sweet and powerful. This tastes like a coffee candy you have at grandmas house. Hot on the aftertaste. I sense the touch of licorice everyone is talking about. There is something about Viking malts that differ from Mid European and American. Its present in Haand Bryggeriet. Nogne and Mikkeller.

Pours a headless black with a fantastic butter-tart aroma - burnt raisin and brown sugar. Tastes quite astringent, acidic Arabica, ash & burnt. Body is thin and pinched, lightly effervescent. Lovely lingering espresso aftertaste - more tart Arabica. Very tasty but wish there were a tad more body & head.

Bottle. Heavy malt aromas of toasted, molasses and dark bread, moderate resin, leather and earth for thehops and yeast, with background notes of prune, tar, vanilla and dark rum. Head is small, creamy with some larger bubbles, light brown, with fair lacing and good thick legs, and is almost fully diminishing. Color is black. Flavor starts heavily sweet and finishes moderately sweet and lightly bitter Palate is full, syrupy and silky and has an almost flat carbonation. A lively and very well crafted Imperial Stout, but a little too over the top on the sweetness for me.

Pours a thin tan head that fades and a dark brown body. Smells of toast, burnt sugar, and a little smoke. Tastes of brown sugar, alcohol, toast, maple. Finish is bitter and sticky. Little thin.
