Commercial Description:
Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

This beer pours an oily black color with a medium light brown head that dissipates steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of burnt malt, chocolate and potent coffee liqueur. Rich body with flavors of espresso, dark chocolate and malt. Underlying alcohol throughout. The finish is roasty with a lingering anise and coffee aftertaste. I enjoyed this one.

375ml Bottle: Sweet malty aroma. Smells of chocolate, piney hops, alcohol, tar, roasting, vanilla, and coffee. Poured pitch black in color with a large, foamy, rocky, milk-chocolate-brown head that lasted throughout. Excellent lacing. Opaque. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of chocolate, piney hops, alcohol, coffee, cream, roasting, and vanilla. Medium to full body. Thin, chalky texture. Soft to average carbonation. Chocolate and pine hop finish. Overall, 14% ABV is well hidden. Nice amount of hops.

Shared at the C-Bus 7. I don’t know where this bottle came from, but I was thrilled to see and it did live up to all the hype. Interesting packaging too. Dark beer with ruby highlights when held up to the light. Thin brown whispy foam that created a galaxy on the surface of the beer. Fascinating nose with many layers, including licorice, dusty chocolate, coffee and many other complimentary notes. Flavors started with the coffee and chocolate, with smoke, ash, alcohol, strong grassy hops and vanilla. Oily, coating mouthfeel. The finish is dry coffee bean bitterness. This is a really excellent beer.

Bottle 52/100: Pour is dark viscous viscous black with a dense and small brown head...smell is rich and so intensely roasty, like being in a coffee shop when roasting...some notes of oak and cocoa...flavor is strongly sweet at first with a strong warmth from alcohol coming on...then the alcohol is killed off by more roasty bitterness...nicely done!

Bottle split with Garrett. This is one that I have wanted to get my hands on for a while. Sean the ass raper has a bottle which he charged 25 dollars for (must be his service charge), but locally this beer was only 10 dollars. Thanks for the real deal on that one Smitty boy, next time I see you Ill be sure and give you a hot lunch. Pours out a dark black color with a tan head on it. Smell is sweet, full of coffee, and almost a banana like sweetness to it. Some chocolate and roasted smells as well. Taste is thin, much thinner than I was expecting, but it turns out this wasnt a bad thing at all. Full of coffee and chocolate in the taste, its like drinking an amped up version of Beer Geek, or Breakfast Stout. It has a nice hoppy flavor from being a freshly made beer, but in a couple of years this beer will be fantastic. More so than it already is. Awesome stuff, and the best beer of the night hands down.

Bottle enjoyed with shp555 and douglas88 at my place. So this is the second batch but man, this was tasty. Thick and rich. Like biting into a coffee and chocolate confection. Has a bit of bitterness which nicely complimented the richness.
