Black color. Nice aroma of roasted malt and hops. Good body strength, warming mouthfeel, perfect strength and balance of flavors, caramel, chocolate and roasted malt; smooth, lovely.
2006-11-02, bottle, 9-5-8-4-17=43 Black color; small brown head. Wonderful aroma, malt, roasted malt, cardboard, glue, coffee, chocolate. Strong body structure, based on the roasted malt and liquorice, with caramel, malt, chocolate, light yeast; there is also an interesting touch of strong cheese from the Alps and Fernet. Strong bitterness, with a light sourness from the roasted malt; the hopping is hidden behind the roasted malt, but it’s of good quality. Complex brew. More dynamic than other Imperial Stouts. Thanks Mikkel for the bottle. CaptainCougar (5520), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Pours a completely opaque fairly viscous black with a nicely-lacing light brown head. Full, sweet dark caramel and chocolate malty aroma has some roasty smoky notes with a touch of bready grain and fresh piny hops. Body starts with good viscosity and sweet earthy caramel and dark chocolate with some piny hoppy bitterness. Finishes smooth and bittersweet with a nice lingering dark chocolate flavor. A very nice imperial stout. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA

Big aroma with sweet roasted malt, big milk chocolate, and a mild fruitiness. Mild alcohol notes in the nose. Large malty flavor. Nice amount of roast with a mild tartness. Some dark fruit and chocolate. The flavors and the aromas are large. Full bodied and creamy. Nice warmth without the alcohol taste. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA

Vinous and a bit of alcohol. The coffee comes out with a vengeance. Strong roast malts and bitter hops. Oil thick body that coats the mouth heavily. Finishes off a bit hot and malty. ante (2956), Stockholm, Sweden
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 5, 2006 Bottled. Very cool "label"... pours out like used motoroil with low dark brown head. Complex and strong aroma of black chocolate, pines, honey, pepper, alcohol, muscavado sugar, whipped cream and burnt chocolate pudding. Really thick flavour of black chocoalte, arabica coffee with notes of piney and lemony hops, hot pepper, chocolate cream, nutmeg and honey. Really, really thick mouthfeel with a long finish of piney hops, black chocolate and salt. Extreme and really tasty. One of the most thickest beers I*ve sampled. Brilliamt stuff. jimbowood (956), Athens, Georgia, USA

Reminds me of a mix of Speedway, Beer Greak, and Founder’s Breakfast stouts. Smoky nose and finish. Alcohol lingers long in the back of the throat. Very good. sayravai (3755), Helsinki, Finland
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Sep 27, 2007 Updated: Feb 17, 2008(Bottled, 13.1%, @Pikkulintu [Thanks, Markku!]) Very dark brown with a medium, brown, lasting and slightly lacy head. Lots of roasty malt and smooth american-style hops in the aroma, some lactic feel, coffee, chocolate. Very intensely malty, strongly roasty-burned flavor with obvious, warming, but smooth alcohol. Some licorice, light ashiness, dry, salty and bitter finish. Quite full-bodied, a bit slicky palate with smooth, low carbonation. A very nice and dry, but slightly too burned imperial stout. Definitely a slow beer. I’ll wait for some years before opening the rest. [Re-sampled about 6 months later: much smoother now, less burned with more coffee and liquourish fruitiness. Delicious!] ThomasE (5178), Copenhagen, Denmark
