Commercial Description:
Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

Bottled. Very cool "label"... pours out like used motoroil with low dark brown head. Complex and strong aroma of black chocolate, pines, honey, pepper, alcohol, muscavado sugar, whipped cream and burnt chocolate pudding. Really thick flavour of black chocoalte, arabica coffee with notes of piney and lemony hops, hot pepper, chocolate cream, nutmeg and honey. Really, really thick mouthfeel with a long finish of piney hops, black chocolate and salt. Extreme and really tasty. One of the most thickest beers I*ve sampled. Brilliamt stuff.

Bottle. An excellent beer. Reminds me of a mix of Speedway, Beer Greak, and Founder’s Breakfast stouts. Smoky nose and finish. Alcohol lingers long in the back of the throat. Very good.

(Bottled, 13.1%, @Pikkulintu [Thanks, Markku!]) Very dark brown with a medium, brown, lasting and slightly lacy head. Lots of roasty malt and smooth american-style hops in the aroma, some lactic feel, coffee, chocolate. Very intensely malty, strongly roasty-burned flavor with obvious, warming, but smooth alcohol. Some licorice, light ashiness, dry, salty and bitter finish. Quite full-bodied, a bit slicky palate with smooth, low carbonation. A very nice and dry, but slightly too burned imperial stout. Definitely a slow beer. I’ll wait for some years before opening the rest. [Re-sampled about 6 months later: much smoother now, less burned with more coffee and liquourish fruitiness. Delicious!]

Rating # 3000. Pitch black colour with a small brown head. Roasted malty aroma with a sweet chocolate and vanilla note. Roasted malty, quite sweet flavor, again with this chocolate and vanilla note. Coffee roasted bitter finish.

Bottle shared at the KW tasting, courtesy of xocoatl (thank you Walter!!!). Very hoppy aroma mixed with what you expect - coffee, sweet chocolate. Black, small beige head. Great taste - super hoppy, very sweet, chocolate and roast. A really hopped up American Style Impy, I loved it - one of my favourites from the night.

Bottle. Pours out thick like motor oil, nice brown head and intense aroma. Aroma is of coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt. Taste is very filling and complex. Coffee up front goes into a nice chocolate with some notes of dark fruits and slight earthy notes with some roasted malt lingering around in the background. Very nice!

Reviewed 7/8/2009 (bottle dated 02/07/13): Pours an extremely dark color body, maybe brown, with a tan brown colored head, very small. Strong sweet aroma, dark fruit, molasses. Enticing though, not offputting. Some coffee too, coffee grounds. Some bitterness from the coffee. Coffee taste, followed by some dark fruit, with a sweet coffee aftertaste. Not alcoholy, very tasty. Hides the alcohol extremely well. Somewhat of a dry aftertaste. Damn, this is good! Not a lot of variety of flavor, but this is really tasty. Sweet coffee and only a slight alcohol burn. Soft mouthfeel, somewhat thick tasting.

Bottle. Pours a dark black color with a nicely sized tan head on top. The head leaves decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is full of coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, and dark roast. Wonderful aroma that seems to be calling me to drink it. Flavor is coffee through and through, nice dark roast flavor with sweet chocolate and fruit coming in as well. Alcohol is noticeable but not over the top. Nice and heavy on the palate which causes this beer to be a very enjoyable sipper. I am loving these beers from Denmark.
