Sweet and very roasty up front. Moving on to a robust bitterness that is interestingly balanced by a tart and sourness. Unique. Worth every penny. I have been sucked in... caesar (3034), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands

Fruity aroma, roasted malts, chocolat, some coffee, bit salty even. Very strong taste of roasted malts, dark chocolat, coffee. Palate goes on forever. Not my favorite session ale. jbrus (4871), Delft, Netherlands

Aroma is wonderful, cherry, blackcurrant, moccha, licorice and more if you try again. Black as black can be, tiny brown head, fair lace. Sweet, bitter, roasted, coffee, cherry, blackcurrant, licorice, very complex flavors. Thick and every sip takes you 10 minutes to recover. Wonderful beer. Drew (2409), Kent, Ohio, USA

Aroma was just amazin with chocolate coffee candy fruit and more. We had to wait a bit for this since it was too cold, but when it warmed up, oh wow, fantastic with flavors that amplified the aroma. truly special hopscotch (5483), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Earthy, chocolaty nose with a tangy suggestion of raspberries. Lots of chocolate in the flavor. Moderate sweetness is dwarfed by the bitterness of the hops, alcohol and charred malt. Full-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and subtle carbonation. The lengthy finish is sweet, then burnt and bitter. World class effort! Big thanks to kmweaver for sharing his bottle! scraff (1942), Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Intensely rich nose of chocolate, soy, tawny port, booze, honey, mushroom, and mild coffee. Complex brew without question. Flavor is just as intense with loads of vanilla booze, deep black chocolate, and more port-like tones. Medium bodied and slick, soft carbonation, dry, bittersweet finish. Think of a cross between Avery Czar, WWS, and Bell’s Batch 7000. A very well made Imperial Stout which I ’m glad to have tried... heemer77 (4304), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 5, 2007 Very black body with a khaki colored head. The aroma was dark chocolate with some coffee. There were also sweet fruity notes of pancakes and peaches. The taste was some lightly bitter coffee with some dark chocolate. There was a definite raspberry note in the finish. The body was amazingly light and smooth for the abv. Nicely made and fairly balanced compared to many Impy Stouts I have tried. A winner. madsberg (4966), Søborg, Denmark

Extra Porter and was very very pleased. This little buggar has something to live up to. Pitch black it pours out of the awesome bottle. Nice creamy brown head. Aroma is awesome. I have a balanced, fruitdense, chocolatish, roasted, alcoholfilled and light spiced mixture in my nose. Flavour is great as well. Loads of alcohol, fruits, roast, chocolate and spices(anise). Mouthfeel and palate is totally dominated by the alcohol. Maybe a bit too much. Quite dry. Ølfab. is taking the lead by 2 on flavour and palate. Ends on a a roasted alcoholdense note, and Ølfab takes the lead by 3. This is a very good beer, but tasting Ølfab. gl. ex. porter side by side, makes it impossible for me to give more than 4,2. This might win by beeing lagered. I’ll try that with my other sample. Get back with the result in 1 - 2 years.
