Commercial Description:
Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

Mikkeller Black Hole is a solid black beer with a dense, brown sugar colored head that leaves excellent lacing. It has a smokey aroma that’s slightly sweet. It kind of smells like a barbeque. It’s full bodied; smooth, with a clean finish. The flavor has notes of smoke, barbeque, roast, vegemite, something a little spicy and something a little sweet. This thing is like a complete meal-- very unique!

Bottle courtesy jsquire: Pours black with no head. Strong coffee, chocolate, molasses and brown sugar permeate the nose. Very warming, silky mouth feel. This is one of the finest tasting brews I’ve ever had. Flavors of raisins, plums, chocolate, espresso and cherries all combine to form the equivalent of ecstasy in a bottle. Amazing stuff.

Cherries and dark chocolate in the nose. Alcoholic sugary grapefruits too, like sugary hop oil. Mmmmm. Thin with heavy alcohol present in the mouth feel. Coffee as you swallow. Pitch black with a thin brown head. Very wet finish, and tons of burnt fruits with some black kindling tastes. I was blown away by this flavor miasma. A good one for sure, one of my favorites.

Yummy. Black with a foamy brown head. Coffee dominates the aroma with alcohol following. Thick buttery palate. Dark bitter chocolate and strong espresso taste. Excellent. This beer is under rated. Seriously this is a damn good imperial stout. It is a really big beer with a lot of flavor. If you can’t deal with that stick to your pale ale.

Botle. Label saids no name just on the package. Wow this taste wonderfull and also this so strong beer, the alcohol is not so strong in the taste. More bitterness with a perfect after taste. The best out of the 4.

Pours a dar black with thin coffee colored head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate, licorice, dark fruits, sugar cane, alcohol, oat and lots of roasted coffee. Taste of sweet and dark chocolate, toast, roasted maltiness, fig sugar cane, a strong presence of roasted coffee. Although there is a nice alcohol warmth to this beer, it is pretty smooth and creamy. Kind of sweet with a dry bitter coffee finish.

This is my rating number 100 - and to celebrate that this one has to go out to Mikkeller. I chose to rate Black Hole because I believe that Mikkel is brewing some of the best imperial stouts there is - and maybe this is not the very best but it is still a heavy weight champion. This one is from the new batch 2008. Here goes..im popping the 35 cl champange bottle (Isn´t Mikkeller by the way the only one using champange-bottles besides the Belgian Lambic-brewers?) What a beauty - it poursa black body with a huge fluffy dark brown head... and the head stays.... The nose is sweet and a little vinoes - heavy hoppy notes and roasted malts, coffee and burned malts with som dry raisins maybe. The mouthfull is huge with a sparkling warm and creamy/fat palate. with a biting finish due to the amound of hops. It has a dark sweetness and I taste burned coffee-beans, brown sugar, roasted malts, plumps and dry fruits with the bitterness from the american hops in the end. This is a meal in its self - Is the appetizder, the main course and the dessert - (you could add some whipped cream on top for the dessert). I believe that this new batch is more balanced and smooth than the batch from 07.

12.7 oz bottle. this may be one of the most inspiring beers I’ve had the pleasure to drink. It starts with a smokey sweet fragrance with coffee and roasted barley scents. The only way to describe the appearance is darker than night with a full dark head. It sips like liquid gold. It has a flavor of coffee with an almost honey taste. It has virtually no bitterness yet despite that it is both well balanced and overwhelming in a good way. Find it and enjoy a singular beer.
