Commercial Description:
Finally……! Black Hole is what Mikkeller is all about. Daring, vulgar and extreme. From the very beginning Mikkellers goal has been to push the limit and with this warming, intense imperial stout, a new chapter in the Danish beer history has been written. The high bitterness from the hops and the sweetness from the malt and alcohol, creates a good balance which makes Black Hole an explosion of nuances, but also leaves a feeling of a perfect and complex beer – in the heavyweight category.

Bottle shared by Sliffy...Thanks Dan! Now this was a impy stout that lived up to the hype. I enjoyed this one a lot. Very thick and black on the pour with a nice brown tan head. Lots of chocolates, coffee, vanilla, and a slight presence of roastiness that is very welcome. The alcohol is very well hidden for the 12.5 % stout that it is. Very smooth on the palate, big bodied, and highly enjoyable.

(Bottle) Pours opaque black with a brown head. Extremely fat aroma of heavy roasted malt, coffee, tar, light smoke and dark chocolate. Also a lot of resiny hops. Undertones of vanilla, honey, gooseberries, parsley, green pepper, mild liquorice, menthol, and molasses. Hints of red wine with tones of dark fruits and dark berries. Full glue-ish alcohol warmth. A lot of roast and a lot of hops in the flavour with coffee, citrus and a hint bitter grapefruit. Also liquorice, tar, berries, dark fruit, prunes, raisins, salty liquorice, molasses, honey, and green pepper. Light to medium sweet and full bitter. The mouthfeel is full, oily and round. Lingering aftertaste of tar, coffee, liquorice and bitterness. Full bodied. This is not just a fat beer, it’s unbelievable massive like a black hole I would believe.

Wow.Just wow. This is as big and burly as it gets without decending in to farce. Everything you want from an IRS and then it gets up and slaps you in the face a little more for good measure. I took a couple of points away for being a expensive ($19AUS for a small bottle) and at 13% the alcohol is quite evident at times. Otherwise this is as good as it gets IMHO. I will be looking to score some more of this ASAP.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. The beer was quite impressive. Tasted of roasted malts and coffee. Very smooth on the way down. The 13% ABV is hidden quite well. Will have to try again.

Pours black and lifeless, yet a dark tan head arises from nowhere. Gorgeous aroma, very complex with hints of chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, dark fruit and coffee. Very thick body that coats the glass with every swirl. Thick roasted grain coffee bitter taste with hints of dark cherry, vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Very complex, thick and smooth, a world class beer.

Shared with sebletitje. Extremely good stout. Pouts pitch black like a Dark Lord with flavors of mollases, roasted coffee, and a light hint of cocoa. Rich and smooth.
