Jan 14, 2009 Pours black and lifeless, yet a dark tan head arises from nowhere. Gorgeous aroma, very complex with hints of chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, dark fruit and coffee. Very thick body that coats the glass with every swirl. Thick roasted grain coffee bitter taste with hints of dark cherry, vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Very complex, thick and smooth, a world class beer.

Jun 21, 2008 Shared with sebletitje. Extremely good stout. Pouts pitch black like a Dark Lord with flavors of mollases, roasted coffee, and a light hint of cocoa. Rich and smooth.

Jan 23, 2008 Tasted with 5 other imperial stouts. Pours deep black with a small brown head. The aroma is sweet with caramel, chocolate and some mild coffee. The taste has all those plus a bit of wood and a definate alcohol presence. The aftertaste lingers with a bit of bitterness. First tried in a small american style pint glass. This got better poured in to a Duvel glass. The only thing keeping this from being perfect was the fact I had already had 5 strong stouts. I am going to try this on its own for a final rating. Definately on of the best beers I have ever had.

Sep 29, 2009 wow i loved this beer. great, dark body. smell of chocolate and coffee. was lacking a little bit of carbonation but otherwise tasted great! nice balance. long and enjoyable finish. great complex beer, if you like the style you will love this one

Feb 19, 2009 Pours black with a thick mocha head. Nose bursting of sweet chocolate malt and coffee. Amazing thick, rich taste with nice faint hop finish and some alcohol. Alcohol is hidden very well in this imperial stout.

Jan 17, 2008 Gratis bottle from Rick. Opaque black pour into a snifter. Nice thick, creamy tan head that dissipates to to a fine layer. Great lacing that lasts. First thing you smell is coffee and a deep roast aroma. Initial taste had a great full mouthfeel that left a bit of a oily feeling. Little to no hop bitterness but the coffee taste lends a nice bitterness. The 14% ABV is hidden well until the swallow; you feel it going down and gives you a great feeling in your stomach. The low carbonation and toffee/caramel flavors mix well. To date, this is the best Imperial Stout I have tasted. Worth the price. As it warms, the bitterness is subsiding and has a nice vanilla flavor to compliment the coffee. Would love to try a cash version if it were ever available.

Feb 22, 2009 Updated: Nov 9, 2009Bottle from Knightly spirits. Black pour with a really nice brown head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and some faint hints of dark dried fruits. Flavor hits with more coffee than I would have expected and has plenty of chocolate. This is a stellar beer. Glad I have another to savor.
