This barley wine pours a slightly hazy medium amber brown color from a 33cl bottle. Small to minuscule sized white foamy head. The aroma is caramel, fruity with a touch of alcohol. A medium bodied Barley Wine. The malts are caramel and fruity, brown sugar and alcohol. The hops are earthy. Definitely in the English style of Barley Wine, yet it has a touch less malt and a touch more dark fruit. A touch of wood and whisky show up as it warms and more in the back of the taste. Alcohol is fairly evident. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Bottle: Pours a transparent dark copper orange with an airy off-white head. Aroma of sweet toasty dark caramel and butterscotch with some oaky whiskey notes. Starts with pretty good caramel malty fullness with some light fruity notes and peaty smoke flavor before a smooth semi-sweet and warming finish. Has good complexity throughout with a nice balance of Scotch flavor. An enjoyable barleywine. Pipper (244), Ohio, USA

Did NOT realize this was 12.5% which may have accounted for my state at the end of the night. Anyways, great clear orangey/amber color with a bit of tan head. Booze on the nose and pretty upfront in the flavor. Slightly sweet almost raisiny but the alcohol overpowers a lot of what’s going on in the beer. jbrus (4863), Delft, Netherlands

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 6, 2009 12oz bottle. Clear reddish amber pour with a medium tan head. Nose of fruit, booze and some dankness. Malty and sugary flavor with a semi-roasty and bitter finish. Not overly impressive, but I like the complexity in flavor.
