The aroma is mild with caramel, toffee and some faint whiskey. The flavor is rich with toffee, leather, brown sugar, biter walnut hops and some fruit that I just can’t pin down. The palate is full and smooth with lively carbonation. The finish is long with lingering toffee and some molasses. Overall: very tasty, but way overpriced.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 2, 2010 11.2 oz. bottle. Batch #243. Bottled on: 07/05/09. Mine says 12.1% ABV. A murky copper pour with a thin sandy head. The aroma features candied sugar, caramel, plums, prunes, vanilla extract, and grapefruits in the background. A full, syrupy body. The taste is quite sweet upfront with a tangy transition and a bitter, drying finish that lingers. Candied sugar, caramel, plums, prunes, and vanilla extract are all evident. Grapefruitiness at the end. There is just a bit of an underlying oakiness throughout. Warming alcohol is present, but not nearly suggestive of a 12.1% ABV. blipp (1766), Newark, New Jersey, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 30, 2009 Pours pure deep copper with amber like hues and then a tan head on top. The aroma has solid notes of apricots, plums, prunes, raisins and ripe cherries. A big draw quickly brings up solid boozy nose searing heat. The taste is full of sweet dark fruity goodness to go along with caramel candy and a light roasted maltiness that brings this whole thing together nicely. Toward the finish a modest amount of booze heat murmurs up from time to time. Keir (54), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA

Aroma is sweet, candy, spice, subtle hop, and mild alcohol. Tastes toasty, sweet, subtle alcohol, slight fruity, slight citrusy. Oily mouth feel. BarossaLuke (114), Australia
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Dec 27, 2009 Aroma of prunes, dried fruits and toffee. Rich flavour with lost of caramel and some roasty flavour, hints of oak with a slight sweetness, but not cloying. I get a slight hint of the Speyside whiskey in the flavour but less in the aroma. Probably started drinking this too cold, so let it warm up a bit more and aroma came out more. Pwn3d (1133), Manhattan, New York, USA
