The beer has a small creamy beige head that leaves a nice lacing. First impressions in the nose gives aroma of herbal shampoo. The smell is nutty and leaves impressions of green nutpeel, lemongrass, wild flowers from the Alps, green tea, kamille flowers, bitter caramel and touches of the pits of exotc fruits and tropical wood. This Chinook has a dry powerfull bitterish attack with a green and vegetal caracter. It has loads of hints that reminds me of unripe nuts and laurell leafs. The middel pallet is very dry and clean bitter. The bitterness is green, herbish, slight minty and has hints of fresh birtshwood juse. For those who like a big dosis of herb juse beer, this is the one. kook (2034), Perth, Western Australia, Australia

Over-the-top grassy flavour present. Some refined pine, but overall a little green. Medium-smooth. Nice to see Mikkeller experimenting, but the Chinook is not for me. The appearance is hazy, orange, with a huge head. Very bitter with lots of different notes from the hops ballanced by the malty sweetnes. Dry aftertaste. Wery much my kind og beer! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 24, 2006 I needed a special treat for my rating number 5500 - so I picked this. A hazy dark red beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma is sweet and very hoppy, flowery, and grassy with some reminicence of grapefruit, but also hints of caramel. The flavor is sweet with a malty slightly toffeish background, which is very fast overpowered by the hops, which at first are grassy and grapefruity, but also quite quickly turn wild with loads of bitterness drying out the mouth and leaving You with a bitter grapefruity flavor that lingers for a long time. Good, but on my tastebuds maybe just over the rim, which I think in part is due to the single variety used - mix in some Cascade. JoshuaB (428), Detroit, Michigan, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 2, 2006 Pours a hazy dark amber with some white foamy head. Nice lacing, some speckling as well. Nose is awesome, a flowery juicy citrusy goodness. Bready and yeasty, yum yum. Taste is a fruity hop explosion. Pineapple, apples, apricots, and oranges greet the palate. Nice a good earthy dark malt comes into play, not too sweet. Finishes with a nice dry cocoa and careml thing going on. Has a rather nice yeast funk throughout as well. Next time in Denmark, I will be trying this again. SuIIy (1504), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA

Nose is very malty, alos very hoppy, very well balanced, some yeasty funk notes as well. Taste is crisp hops and a flavorful sweet and tangy malt that blend together perfectly. Light citrus and some more light funk follow up. Excellent thick mouthfeel and a suiting bitter finish.
