Commercial Description:
This is a rauchbier brewed with german rauchmalt and peated malt only. It's fermented with lager yeast at ale temperatures - like a California Common.

[Another century celebrated with a Mikkeller beer - this time 6400] A deep red beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is nicely smoked with notes of bacon, tar, and rope. The flavor is sweet with a nice malt back ground which dominates the start together with some caramel notes, then the smoke gains in power combined with notes of wood and rope, which in turn gives way to a quite dry end, where the ligth smoky note lingers together with a faint caramel note. Not the most powerful smoked beer, but enough to make it really nice.

(Bottle 50 cl) Very unclear orangey brown with an off-white head. Distinct, baconish smoke aroma. Medium body, some roasted malt and otherwise completely dominated by these, fat, baconish smoke accents. Dry finish with a light, underlying tartness. A true Bamberg style smoke beer. 200507

From 50 cL bottle thanks to Papsoe/Ungstrup. Pours deep brown and rossa with an almost chalkwhite head. Aroma of smoke, I’m placed somewhere on Bornholm near a smoked fish house or in South of Jutland with a smoke sausage (spegeåølse). It clearly has a meat flavour to it. Aroma hops blend lightly into the smoke. Flavour has a fantastic good body providing a meat flavour and a lovely malt flavour which is blending nicely into the beers dominating smoke flavour and providing a fantastic uplifting experience. Most of all, the smoke makes this a real joy. Fantastic brew concluding another great tasting arranged by Papsoe, cheers!

Bottled. Cloudy nut brown, rich head. Restrained woody smoke aroma. Dry with clean mouthfeel and fairly lightbody. Some orange make an unusual addition to the medium intensity smokiness. Lightly yeasty. Fairly low bitterness. Very interesting, but I still prefer the more traditional Franconian renditions.

Bottle, 6.3%. Weak salami and charcoal aroma. Cloudy dark brown colour. Stable light brown head. The flavour is nicely sweet and smoky. The smoke is like a sweet bonfire. Good mouthfeel.

Hazy dark brown colour. Cold smoked aroma is distant and sparse. Chocolatey flavour is sweet and rich, with a gentle smokiness that interplays with the chocolate well, providing a complementary role. Full body. Overall, an interesting take, sweet and mellow.

Brown color; thick head. Delicate smoked aroma, with some cardboard, vanilla. Good malty body, some residual sugars, light liquorice. The final is somehow empty of emotions, but with an average bitterness. Some hidden hops. Gentle Smoked.
