Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

Bottle shared by Springslicker. Poured amber with a creamy off-white head that is lasting and left good lace. Nice hop malt mix in the aroma with honey and citrus mainly picked out. Sweet malt flavor with a light hop and spice backing. Medium body, crisp.

Winter Welcome Toronto. Smells of good malt and fine noble hops, dark amber, with a small off-white head. Flavour is a spicy malt, hops add a nice level of bitterness. Full bodied, a zingy mouthfeel.Terrific example. Thank You Radek Kliber.

I tasted this beer before I got my account with ratebeer, so I can’t really remember all the flavors.

Bottle. Yellow. Big white head. Smells citrus hops. This beer is sweet of citrus hops and quite easy to drink but it is also very bitter.

750ml Bottle at Sorbon in Bromma, Stockholm. Huge compact head! It tastes like a cross over between an american IPA and a pilsner, lots of citrusy hops. I wouldnt have guessed that the alcohol was that high from tasting it.

Bottle. Aroma moderately sweet and fruity, very hoppy. Hazy orange golden body, huge thick fluffy white head. Sweet fruity flavor that develops into a nice hoppy bitterness with a crisp finish. Excellent and tasty.

Poured into a snifter. Muddy opaque goldenrod color with a medium-tall off-white head that leaves a film of fine lacing. Fresh-cut pineapple aroma, pungent mango, peach juice. Some herbs and grass too. Flavor is pale malt with orange marmalade, grains, and a bitter finish. I’m not getting hardly any noble hop spiciness like I expect from a pilsener. Tastes sort of like an aged DIPA. Mouthfeel is nice and dry, maybe a little low on carbonation, some alcohol warming. While this isn’t a bad beer, the thing I like about pilseners is the noble hops cleanness and crispness, and this beer seemed mired in tropical fruit flavors. Upon checking the ingredients, I see that this beer is hopped with Cascade and Amarillo. Doesn’t really make any sense to use zero noble hops and call your beer a pilsener. Stylistically this beer is way off, but hedonistically it’s pretty good.
