Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

This orange ale poured with a nice beige head and a fruity caramel malt aroma. The flavor is bread and caramel with exceptional hopping that produced a mouthful of delicious bitterness. There was a nice lacing along the inside of my glass right to the finish.

Bottle from Binny’s Beverage Depot in Orland Park, IL. It poured a clear golden amber body with a HUGE rocky head. The nose was sweet and grainy with a light floral/grassy hopping. It tasted of sweet pale malt, grainy, with a light hop bitterness that was boosted by the obvious alcohol presence. Not bad, but a bit too smooth for the European Strong Lager style that it’s listed under.

decaturstevo’s 2008 Zapit Tasing Tasting. Sample from a bottle thanks to SpringsLicker. Hazy deep yellow with a frothy white head with falling sheets of lacing. Nose is mostly strong adjunct type malts. Light hoppiness. Taste is heavy warming sweetness, pale malts and a finish of hops.

Bottle (c&c) from Marcus. Many thanks. Sort of a copper color with a frothy, bubbly off-white head. Lots of hop - floral, grassy, spicy. Medium body with creamy/frothy carbonation. Flavor is strong. Strong hop and strong malt. Not at all bitter; well that overstates the matter, but it sure isn’t a NW hop giant; a more gentlemanly bitter. . Not hot. Indeed it seems to have a lot of nobility. Perhaps not quite clean, but it is crisp. A most excellent lager. How can it be other than the best ESL? At least for now.

750ml bottle, hazy amber-orangeish hue, with beige head, leaving some laces, nice floral hop nose of citrus, and faint peachy fruitiness, with some leafy, grassy accent, with some sweet honeyed pale malt notes, in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a sweet honeyish pale malt, fruity, spiced hoppy character, with a mild piney, coniferous accent, with a hint of mintiness, leading towards a sweet malty, hop leafy bitterness finish.

Lovely orange color with a very large white head. Spicy floral hoppy nose. Super bitter taste with loads of pepper and grass notes. Some alcohol at the finish. Solid.

Bottle courtesy of kleyland. Poured a murky, dull orange with a huge frothy white head. Aroma of sweet malt, earth, sweet malt, vanilla and flowers. Comparing this to Panzer Pils, this one is at least as good. Not quite as sweet or hot, and a bit more well balanced. Pretty full bodied, with a lingering after taste. Malty flavor, bread, yeast, fruit and earth. Hop finish is mild, but solid.

Pours a cloudy golden color with a thick, frothy, white head. Aroma of hops and spices (pepper mostly). Interesting flavor of hops, pepper and mild alcohol. The body is medium with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Nicely done.
