Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

750ml generously GIVEN by FlacoAlto. Aroma is very grassy w/ clover. The hop aroma is very good, but a bit too light allowing boring malt to come through. Hops in the flavor have more citrus character but are still predominantly grassy and flowery. The hops feel great all up in ma mouf. Finish is long and satisfying.

Pours a very nice cloudy gold with a big, soapy white head. Nice lacing as the beer goes down. Light, but very pleasant aroma: citrus and floral hops mostly. Flavor is pretty similar. Nice fruity hop bitterness, with a little bit of honey sweetness. This beer is awesomely crisp. The beer finishes with a slight alcohol burn, but I’m actually finding that kind of enjoyable at the moment. Very well done beer, a very pleasant surprise.

750 ml. Clear orange-amber with a large head that settles down to a lasting ring, leaving cobwebs behind. Aroma similar to an IPA: citrus, resin and flowery honey. Flavors are similar and well-hopped. Slight additional hints of dryish lager yeast, grass and alcohol that linger in the aftertaste. I would swear this was an IPA if it wasn’t labeled otherwise. Light-medium body is lightly carbonated and finishes dry.

Date: 08/30.08, bottle from CelticBrew, and shared with him, Steve E., and Doboy.

Aroma - Grainy, some hay, and some nice spicy hops

Appearance - Sparkling clear gold under a billowing, creamy, white head that leaves sticky rings of lace

Flavor - Light malty sweetness of hay and grass, balanced quickly by a refreshing bitterness tjat ushers in a welcome dry finish.

Palate - Medium body and carbonation, smooth and creamy, dry palate

Overall - Nicely balanced, flavorful, another well crafted beer from Mikkeller

Corked bottle and served in my big Karmeliet tulip:

A slightly hazed golden hue with a big fluffy head with left very nice lace upon the glass. The aroma has notable continental hop vapors, lightly fruity and herbal along with a biscuity and dusty ester. The taste is a wonderful balance of crisp clean hop bitterness and properly done pale malt additions. Hint of earthy and herbal notes around the edges. The best part is that the alcohol does not get in the way of the flavors like a few other "Imperial Pils" that I have had. Lively and refreshing, dangerously drinkable considering.

This is a VERY WELL DONE BREW! I am honestly surprised by this beer, in a good way. Worth the money IMO and that is saying something at $12 a bottle.

750 ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange body with lots of visible carbonation and a lvely bubbly white head. Very fruity and grainy aroma with some crisp hop notes. Medium bodied with very lively carbonation. Flavor was grains and fruit with a bitter finish. This one left me feling ripped off for the price I paid.

Celticbrew comes through with another winner, that he shared with Buddy Steve, myself and the Truely Comedic (Loved the Pig Joke) Drbayern! This was a great beer! Loved the hoppy aroma upon pouring. It was clear, light yellow, with a nice off white head that held wonderfully. The mouthfeel was wonderful. The bittering made me want for more! Mikkeller can’t seem to do wrong!
