Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

Shared by kmweaver. Cloudy pale body with a small white head. The nose is herbs grass, lemon and bread. The flavor is lightly sweet with herbs, grass, honey and dough. Medium body is soft with moderate carbonation. This was 8%?!

75 cl bottle. Thanks ekstedt. Light amber with a medium, white head. Smells of epoxy adhesive (sic!), very hoppy. Mildly bitter with a soft mouthfeel, though somewhat adstringent.

Bottle (75 cl) from Ölbutikken, Copenhagen, Denmark. Deep golden to amber, medium white head. Floral and piney hops, bready malts with some caramelly notes. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied. Very well balanced with a lingering bitterness.

Bottle, 75cl. Pours a nice yellow/orange, slightly hazy, beer, with a nice white head. The arome is nicely balanced hops, with american hops clearly. When tasting the beer it is very balanced and the hops are very caracteristic. The body is slightly fuller than one would expect from a pilsner, but this does not make this a bad beer. The beer has a nice balanced mouthfeel, that leaves a good experience. Overall a good imperial pilsner, with american notes.

Aug, 2007 Chris o Shindig. Strong cereal lager with heavy alcohol. Thin fruit. Little here of interest. Very little pleasure. Difficult to drink.Quite hot and gagging sweet.

750 ml – Thanks for sharing, kmweaver! Lightly hazed orangey gold, creamy white head. Nose was soft with notes of fleshy peach fruitiness that’s layered over warm caramel coated biscuits. Dried sugary fuzzy fruits balance well on a grassy citric hop bitterness. A touch of caramel malt rounds this out well. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, sweet hoppy finish. One of the better Imperial Pils I have encountered. Well done…

750mL bottle, courtesy of Papsoe. Thanks, Henrik! Pours a hazy, golden-orange color; textured white head with solid retention and lacing. Pleasant citrus and pine and oily bitter hops in the aroma; oily and dense but without being very abrasive. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: resiny, oily citrus and herbal hops; excellent density and hop characteristics without the typical "imperial pilsner" roughness; oily, dense hoppiness and a solid sugar / maple sugar malty core; oily citrus and mineral and candy sugar finish. Very solid European strong lager.
