Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Bright and thick pour of tangerine orange. Lemon meringue crust, grass and honey aroma; suggestions of earthy sweetness in pistachio and almond oils. Ebullient, cheerful hop flavors of flowers, rainy grasses, and citrus skins. Brilliantly alive and zesty. Crisp and earthy pilsener rests plaintively beneath, well-presented and deftly reserved, though malty enough to completely muscle out any hint of alcoholic foulness. Sparkly and lively in the mouth; vegetally textured. The hay-like bitterness of yerba mate and noble hops lend a quiet but forceful leafiness to the finish. Reserved, but not halfhearted in the slightest; this could not be any more skillfully done. Thanks for sharing, Ken!

Comments: Tea-like hops, herbal and fully flowery. Bright American character (amarillo, cascade?), but delicious pale pils malt foundation. Tight-bodied. Very different. Gorgeous stuff.

(on tap -draft bear aka fadbamse, yeah I got it) Slightly yellow, white head. Good hopping the nose, makes one espect a powerfull beer. Taste is first sweet, but very balanced. The hopping never gets to dominating. Get´s very easily drinkable as one drinks on. This is just a fab IIIPilsner and shows that a hardcore beer, can be smooth and so inviting.

Bottle. Hoppy aroma, some alcohol noticed, lightly floral. Palate shows some nice bitter hops. Peach and citrus fruit come through. Alcohol is there, but is balanced, warming, rather than aggressive. Very nice beer.

Orange/yellow with everlasting head... Very hoppy aroma and taste, maybe to much actually! Bit of malt, hay and corn-like taste... Good balance, but to hoppy when thinking about pilsner/lager...
