Commercial Description:
Brewed by Mikkeller at De Proefbrouwerij in Lochristi, Belgium.

’Fad bamse’ is a highly hopped and dry hopped imperial pilsner with a light body and lovely crispyness from the lager yeast.
A Danish pilsner is typically characterized by an alcohol content of 4,6% vol., piss-yellow colour and a sexless, slightly bitter taste. But it doesn’t have to be like this…! Draft Bear is Mikkellers interpretation of a ’pilsner’, heavyweight-style. With its powerful hop notes, high alcohol content and lovely golden appearance, the only reference to the pilsner style is the clean taste of the lager yeast.
Ingredients : Water, malts (pils, carapils and amber), light candy sugar, hops (amarillo and cascade) and lager yeast.

Hell of a malt liquor - beats the hell out of Old E and Steel Reserve. Golden color with a big off-white head. Aroma of pale malt and grassy/citrusy hops. Like an imperial pilsner/American pale ale hybrid in a way. Flavor is sweet and malty with caramel and citrusy hops with slight pilsner notes. Nice full palate for the style. Well-balanced.

&50 ml bottle shared by Odeed! Thanks Jake! Nose of citrus hops with a tinge of pine and some caramel. Clear yellow gold with a medium, glass lacing, yellow tinged head. Flavor is light bitterness with some caramelly sweetness, but not too much. Finish is lightly bitter with a bit of balancing sweetness that masks the bitter for 15 or 20 seconds.

Bottle brought by bakrslp on BA. Thanks Eric. Pour is hazy yellow with a small whitish head. Aroma of sweet malt and soft fruits. Flavor is grainy with subtle hop present. Medium bodied and not very good.

Thanks to someone at miketd’s tasting for bringing this. Mikkeller makes a lot of great beers but often times they are priced at a point that makes me wary to get all the best ones. Perhaps this one was a little past its prime but I would be been let down if I had plopped down more than $12.99 for this.

Aroma / Appearance - Almost no head resulted from a vigorous pour. The golden fluid body smelled antiseptic with only a bit of hoppiness. It was hard to tell what this was trying to do.

Flavor / Palate - Floral and carbonated the mouthfeel redeems what could have been a big disappointment. Acceptable for your average beer the only issue I have with this is the cost. Whether that markup is due to transit costs or something else this one should be split with a few friends to make it worthwhile.

Bottle pours cloudy orange with a white head. Aroma is caramel hop aroma that has a twang of citrus that is probably past its prime. Flavor follows suit and is a hoppy malty brew that is beyond its prime. Overall a nice brew.
